Proposal: M&A Photo Group

Hi all,

What I'm proposing, and looking for people to help out with, is an M&A photo group. This group would share, critique, learn and get excited about photography. Preferably I'd like to keep the group mostly photos, as that's what I deal mainly with and think I'd be easier to work with for turnaround time, accessibility, etc.

I know there are threads out there about best film photography, "critique these shots", etc., but I'd like to do something different.

Following guidance from Ted Forbes and his YouTube channel "The Art of Photography", I think it could be very beneficial to do "assignments" or "projects" every 2-4 weeks. I know the ski season is coming to a close for many of us, but these assignments don't have to be specific to ski photography.

I know there are lots of professionals on here, as well as many amateurs that both love to shoot photos. In my mind, it would be awesome to bridge this gap. Along with this, it would be very helpful for the pro's to help out with creating ideas for assignments, critiques, etc.

For reference this is the photo assignment series by Ted Forbes (who I'm basing this off of.)

Let me know what you all think. Any and all comments and suggestions are welcome. Excited to get this running!

I think something kinda similar might have been attempted on here. I think it was like a one camera one lens type thing or only one type of film sort of deal, but I cant for the life of me remember exactly. Pretty sure only a handful of members participated and only participated for a few months.

M&A has been kinda dying sadly.

We've had some stuff on and off in the past.

To be successful, it needs a good leader. If you want to take it up, go for it!

ive learned a crazy amount from NS members over the years

Can people reply if they're interested, and will contribute photos/ critique? If there's like 6-10 people I can get this thing off the ground.

So fucking true, I use M+A more than actual photo forums

And to clarify my previous post, I'm totally down for this, probably gotta procure a digital body if I want to be able to keep up on assignments though.

5/10. Maybe just 2/3 more and I'll make a new thread for the first part of the group. For this first one I'm thinking an intro, background in photo, some gear, and five of your favorite skiing shots, and why they mean something.

Again I'll make that thread once we get a few more people in, and I'll message those who want in when it's ready.
