Property In NZ?

Hello friends,

So I'm getting cabin fever here in the city of Seattle. I finish school in June and am thinking of moving to NZ. Is there any reasonable priced property left in your neck of the woods? I want to build a straw bale home run it with solar and wind, and hopefully build it on like 30+ acres. What are the chances of picking up some property like that for less thank 100K?

Also, how expensive are your general costs of living? food, basic needs etc?

oh, ps. North or South Island to live on, and how much does it cost to get between the islands? is there a ferry system or something?

if you find somewhere with 30 acres at that price, it will be the type of place that will instantly cure you of your cabin fever, if you know what i mean!
