ProctorJones.com vs. Jibij

ski shops are gay most of teh time cause things cost money, id say whoever is easier to steal from, if i ever go to CO which i doubt i will, ill steal some shit from jibji

giving back to the industry huh,,, how long has jibij had its doors open?? how long will they stay open? does big business hurt the little guys? with companies out there like garts sports, dicks and the other big boxes how can any of these little shops survive? they've gotta move product. PJ gives back so does jibij they are both donators and sponsers of this site aren't they?now if there are 70,000 suscribers to this site and maybe just maybe 10% of you buy your shit from the two shops. maybe down the road u can have this argument. owned

jibij is over priced but the selection is a lot better and they on focus on freestyle where as proctor jones has the good deals but they also sell racing and snowboard shit which is gay...but thats just my opinion

i don't know about you all, but im personally a big fan of the ski equipment forum on NS, best deals on new and used gear around. on a more serious note, i'd like to throw evo (aka evogear.com) into the mix, because they have great prices, are owned by a pro skier, and the actual shop in seattle is core and completely commited to the newschool scene, putting on ski movie premiers and such.

If any of you have actually ever been to Jibij and talked with josh, you'd never order anything from anywhere else. Josh is friendly and super knowledgeable. I highly HIGHLY doubt some easy coast lady knows more about freeskiing and/or product than a 23 year old guy who LOVES skiing, LOVES progression, and LOVES the product. You'd be hard pressed to find someone in the entire ski industry that even cares one ounce about the customer, the direction of the sport, the quality of product they carry, their team members, etc… like Josh does. If you know him AT ALL... you can see it. He's not out just to make money. He’s making a difference. I know Josh very well and I know the ski industry pretty well too. I've been to SIA. Met all kinds of reps and owners of companies... I see what many of them are like and still to this day Josh stands apart from the masses. I respect Josh for what he stands for and for what he is doing for this sport.

If you support proctor jones just to save a few bucks and to buy some crappy Salomon or dynastar skis... then so be it. But, if you live in CO then at least stop in Jibij... check it out. Talk with Josh. Watch a movie. Anything. Try to compare it to some random online store... or any store for that matter and you can't! If you don't live in CO, then geeze… at least look at the team updates. Look at www.jibij.com and honestly ask yourself... does it look like they're having fun? Does this look like people I'd like to associate with and support!? I certainly think you will. Remember why you're involved with this sport.

And…

Support the shop that supports you. JIBIJ.

hahahaha. witty walker and cosco are sick. but just having jon hartman on the 'pro' team brings them down a million notches. "Hook up your friend" shouldn't apply to a 'prestigious' pro team, Josh. Bottom line, Jibij is dope, but their team needs some serious remodeling.

I strongly disagree w/ that statement. There are shops on the east coast catering to the same market, w/ the same passion about the sport and the product and the customer.

Are you implying that a woman from the east coast can't possibly know as much about freeskiing or just skiing in general than a man from the Rockies? That seems quite sexist since I'm assuming you have never actually met her nor have you talked with her. If you haven't, that's a really damn ignorant statement and extreamly stereotypical. Why can't she also "LOVE skiing, LOVE progression, and LOVE the product?"

to duds-

I apologize that you have been so poorly misinformed as to how this industry works. Clearly you have some allegiance with proctor jones, whether they hook you up, you have friends there, or its just a place where people will tolerate you hanging out i could care less, my point is this....If your goal is to represent a company or shop, please do not do so by going online and starting a pointless argument and fighting it till the death. You are posting here more than anyone, and i can assure you..no matter how many times you attempt to call everyone out your not going to convince EVERYONE to buy from PJ. Jibij is a great shop, they care about this sport, im sure Proctor Jones is a rad place as well, and i think its cool they give us ns'ers a discount. There is no reason to be having this argument whatsoever. They are both cool places, and both support this sport. Let kids choose where they want to get their new stuff...i would encourage kids to look around and think about what companies they are supporting, and in saying that im fairly confident i know where most kids will spend their money.

buy from jibij, They hooked us up and helped out so much at echo, i had to go pick up soooo much shwag from them.....JIBIJ

No. I said "I HIGHLY doubt it." If you can read. Shall we continue this? Have Josh and the lady from PJ go head to head in an epic battle of skiing, product, and ski industry knowledge?

Maybe freeskier would publish it. Maybe you'd be satisfied.

First, explain to me how the industry works then...second, I'm not fighting it till the death, just simply attacking someone who made a statement that took as sexist...third, I went quite a while before replying to what others said. All I was offering was a devil's advocate point/question here or there. Once people strayed from the actual topic I interjected to stand up for what I beleive and bring us back to the subject at hand. My allegiance to a certain shop should have no baring on this discussion. The whole point of this was to simply point out the pros and cons from each shop, not to defend one against the other as the better of the two shops.

Something tells me that the freeskier world could give 2 shits about a head to head retailer battle of skill, product and knowledge. I'm more for fair affirmation that a woman might know as much as a man.

kid your responding to everything anyone says that goes against proctor jones being the only way. Just chill and let the shops speak for themselves, if proctor jones is as sick as you claim it to be then they dont need some kid blabbing about it all over newschoolers. Let people shop where they want, thats all there is to it

proctor jones is a small privately owned ski shop in nashua new hampshire. its not like youre buying from some huge congomerate with nothing but a warehouse somewhere in the midwest. prices are good, people are legit, selection is great, and the corporate label that people seem to have slapped on them really isnt true at all.

witt... isn't it obvious that its the lady from PJ? Why else would duds be soo touchy??

haha. 'don't you know who I am!?'

None of my responces have bad mouthed either shop. Nor have I responded against anyone who said anything against PJ.com. Go back and read my responces. 99% of the time I was keeping the conversation going, proposing another question based on the responces so far, or defending the Josh vs. east coast lady battle. Quit jumping to unprovable conclusions, state your opinion on the shops and move on.

so, i know oscar. he's a good friend of mine. and i always put butters in his place regarding industry knowledge. from a woman's perspective, his post didn't sound at all sexist. if it was, i'd be giving him crap about it as well. so relax, you male feminist. it's okay.

as for jibij vs. ken jones ski and snowboard mart, everyone should come to their own conclusion.

jibij is more core but kenjones and proctor jones are both 20 to 20 min from me so ill have to say them
