Problems uploading Video's?

I wasn't really sure who to pm for this, so decided to just make a thread.

I've tried to upload a short edit I made a few times now, and always end up with the same result. My internet is really slow, so I'll hit the upload button and see the uploading media symbol, then when I come back it's at the original uploading page telling me about how I should upload to NS instead of using other video hosting sites. I uploaded a video once a while ago, but don't remember it doing anything like this. Help please?
 
this happens to me. i ended up just having to embed from vimeo. it's stupid, NS tells us to PLEASSSEEE NAWT EMBEDDD but i wouldn't be able to post my video unless i did.
 
Yeah it's kinda frustrating, any advice on uploading to vimeo? I uploaded the same edit for my first time and it turned out horrible quality, like even worse than the facebook video player. I didn't see any HD options either, how do you do that?
 
after your done editing a video, you normally have to click a button on whatever program your using to export it or "produce" or "create" the video. exporting it in the wrong format can make it really poor quality.
 
I'm almost positive it's in AVI, is that usually good? It plays in good quality in media player, how do I upload it in HD to Vimeo?
 
avi should be alright, idk. whenever i upload something to vimeo it automatically puts an HD option on the player. try youtube?
 
yea, i'm no expert at this shit, you could post it in M&A if it's still not working, they'll know a lot more than i.
 
Exacly this is happening to me right now, I tried to upload a 296 mb wmv file and after an hour or so (I don't have super fast internet) it just send me to the upload page, very frustrating... And it can't be my connection either because I just uploaded the original 390 mb mp4 on a different site.

Help?
 
might be pushing the limit of uploading, maybe compress it down to 250 and try again
 
Fuck! It just won't work, I've compressed it down to 250mb which should work without any problems, tried both .mov & .wmv and nothing...Can it be because I use h.264 codec? What the hell is happening :S
 
One of these days we'll actually manage to launch the fix for that. Dead honest fixing this issue has basically been the biggest thing that we've ever done to the site.
If you want to get a glimpse of the start of the new uploading system, try entering one of our video contests. Though the eventual uploading system and player will be much fancier, you can at least try it there.
Also take note of the quality of the contest videos... its higher.
 
Yeah I've known for quite some time that the vid section is slowly but surely getting overhauled and it isn't just a walk through the park (real expression?) And now when you mention it contest vids have been looking crisp!

So I guess vimeo embed for now? That sucks because it can't be video of the day =/
 
God I'm stupid, didn't realize I could just make it 480p instead of 720p to save some space...worked now.
