Problem on rails and boxes. +K for help

So it seems that when I go up on a rail or sometimes a box, I come down early. This doesn't seem to happen if I do a lip on. Also it only happens on longer rails and it is easier for me to do a lip on a rail.

pay more attention to getting solid pop, scissoring, landing with the rail under your feet, and keeping the rail under you for the whole rail. don't step on. look at the end of the rail. 8 off. slay bitties.

Try not to jump over the rail as much, if that makes sense. but most importantly, just keep your eyes on the end of the rail dude.

keep your shoulders aligned with your skis but your head facing the end of the rail. if you have your shoulders facing towards the end of the rail it sort of pushes you off

If your hitting it and then just going straight off, just try to not jump as much onto the rail and just trust that you'll stay on. Im not very good at wording it but good luck man

funny how things change. When I started skiing there was no such thing as urban lips. everythign was gap or or ride on.

I assume this is what you are talking about?

Get low. get loose. feet and shoulders square and perpendicular to the rail. head turned focus on the end. pop lock and drop the maw fucka.

Allright, thank all you guys. The response from Fluttershy was probably the thing I did wrong cause I just looked at some videos.

If you come off the opposite side you get on, try going off the jump a little farther away from the rail and you will probably stay on and make sure you scissor to get good grip

Like everyone else is saying, scissor, but if you don't jump too high it may be easier to stay up and look in the same spot and theres the obvious tip which is lean away from the direction you are falling in haha

Eyes on the end of the rail, especially when your coming into the rail, that makes you pop the right amount onto the rail

check your speed mate, get faster than slower. you will clear the shit out off the rail with all those tips ^

speed the shit outta you and stomp that rail soo hard

Make sure you land centered, if you are coming from a bit of an angle, just hit the rail, scissor to keep balance and speed, and FOCUS on the end of the rail, the worst thing for me is falling off the edge because I dont remember to look at the end of the rail, and instead I look at my skis and I slide of the side.

come up knees bent and pop a solid 90* degrees so your sideways when you land on the rail, thats hwo most people fall of is the spin to late. Then pretzel to lock on the rail so your not falling off, look at the end of the rail and stay balanced with your knees slighty bent and try not to fight the rail to much.

Didn't read the whole thread so im not sure if this has been said. I was having problems with down boxes/rails ect. all year, and then i got a tip about doing a smaller pop with just my legs rather than using arms a bunch. (before i was like kinda throwing my arms up while popping). Also look at the end of it and plan what you're going to do at the end (switch off, back to regular etc.) so you have something to commit to.

Spark notes: use just your legs (might seem obvious but apparently i was doing it) dont throw arms with your pop. look at the end. COMMIT

I used to not be able to do my 10ft double barrel rail in my backyard...... Then decided, hey! Imma pop and 90 on, slide the whole rail every time now..

Line up the rail center with body. Don't think about it when you're going into, just pop and go 90, when you land on the rail try to get under your boots, dont think about scissoring at first just look towards the end of the rail and ride it out. Thats what helped me, hopefully the same for you, good luck.

There's scissoring and scissoring. If you know you aint gonna sw up or pretzel out, don't make sure you are scissoring, if you are gonna do those tricks, you better make sure you scissor heel or toe.

I'm saying this because the first reply told you to scissor (which is not absolutely necessary)

Thank you. I was already wondering because with scissoring it's more likely that I land with the rail between my legs? I only scissor when I do 270s out and I don't even know if I do them when I go for a blind 270

Like another 26 people in this thread said, "keep your eyes on the end of the rail" that is the most important part.

some amount of scissoring is always necessary unless you like sliding right off the rail, flailing to get to forward, or landing switch every time

Well when I ride rails, I scissor slightly. I'm not riding it with my front ski flat, usually the edge is riding the rail more than the regular bottom of it. Then when I want to 270 out I scissor hard.

dont put to much effort into getting onto the rail because when you do you usually slide off the side when you just kinda eaze your way on without being so out of control you are in a better spot on it

Yah someone in the park told me I was popping/jumping too hard onto the rail and said to kind of just set yourself down on it instead. I didn't really understand what he meant but I guess I am jumping too hard even though it doesn't really feel like it.

If kids werent interested in freeskiing, then they wouldnt be on newschoolers and the sport would end.

concentrate on the end of the rail make sure you have good speed and keep doing them over and over and over till they become natural
