Probe Idea???

Dont want to spend $60 on a probe. I have an aluminum tent pole that looks just like it cud be a probe, I would replace the elastic with something like para cord and attach a "T" type handel on the end from a gun cleaning kit. Is this a good idea or stupid as Fuck??

Do you really want your buddies life relying on a botched tent pole, instead of dedicated avalanche gear. Theres a reason probes and expensive, they can be deployed in seconds and they have certain things your tent pole won't have.

I don't go out with someone who has a probe under about 240, 260+ is preferable. I wanna be found dangit!
