Pro Model Boots

Ok, so here in gear talk every time boots come up answer is always go see a boot fitter. What are the chances that all the pros actually got fitted for the boots they have. I doubt companies are like hey that guy got fitted for our boots let sponsor him.

Pros sometimes get fitted sometimes not. They get a choice of boots from the brand that sponsors them but this does not always mean there is a perfect boot for them. If they are on a big team or just have friends in te industry they will get fitted up and most of the time a boot can be found that works ok for them. Often though it's not the obvious boot choice which works and this is why you see a lot of pros in race boots ect as getting the boot right is more important then them skiing in the "park" boot even though this frustrates the manufacturers sometimes.

A lot of pro's boots have been modified so much they're nowhere near the same as they are stock. I've seen it. It's pretty crazy what some will do, but then again some don't do anything except maybe a booster strap.

Yeah this is a good point. Boots can really be adapted a lot. Take a look at what woodsy is wearing at the moment. Big changes to boots don't often happen but things like changin the flex and cuff angle are fairly common. Using differnt liners and of course footbeds can change the fit quite a bit. Remember too often they will be used as testers. I have fitted some liners before where they were the only pair in existence and they were really temperamental and woul shrink very easily so we had to be so carefull. But I also know riders who are riding in awfully fitting boots as they have never had a boot fitted so don't know what they are missing.
