Private Schools?

Who goes where, and why? I know there are some sweet skiing high schools on the east coast. Where do you go, where do you ski out of, and why did you go there. Coming from NJ, I moved to NH 6 years ago, and was blown away by the culture of the "ski academy" lifestyle.

Skiing at sugarloaf almost every weekend, I have gotten to know a ton of kids from CVA, and I am blown away at how many top notch athletes are produced from there. It's a great school for sure, but i don't know about dorm life or academics.

one of my good friends goes to gould academy in bethel maine. 10 minute drive from sunday river. 15 minute drive from mt. abrams.
this is basically his day:class from like 8 - 12sunday river from 12-4class from 4-6dinnerfree time/extra help timebed.

pretty sweet deal.and im sure there is some kind of a discount they get at the mountain.

No too many public schools that I know of in Central Mass have a ski team. I know that Bromfield (in Harvard, MA) does though.

Most people around here would go to a private school if they were big into racing.

I went to private middle school at Holy Family and high school at La Salle even though I'm not Catholic. If the time ever comes around for me to have kids they'll be going to a private prep school as well.

i go to the Winter Sports School in park city. you go to school from april till nov, and then you have 5.5 months off to ski in the winter time. the school is like 500ft from the Utah Olympic park that has water ramping and tramping, so when i get out of school i just head over there and do my thing.

Okay here are a couple prep schools that are near skiing that i can think of off the top of my head.

Holderness School- Near waterville valley and loon. has one of the best race programs in NH as well as offers a freestyle program. i believe the martini brothers went there.

New Hampton School- They offer a great USSA/FIS racing program whil their school team is just alright. if you wan to race i would go here or holderness. thier freestyle program is up and coming, but idk where they actually ski.

Kimball Union- i went here and ther race program is alright, but they are improving it. kinda... there is a freestyle team, but it is only in its second year. if you want to be loved by this school just play hockey or laccross ha. they ski at whaleback.

Proctor Academy- their race program is again a lot like new hampton and holderness cus they have a good USSA/FIS team and then an alright school team. idk about freestyle here, but they are near mount sunapee and have their own ski area basically on campus. look up blackwater ski area to learn a lil about that.

Gould Academy- Probably one of the best private ski schools out there. it is far away from everything cus its way up there in maine, but during the winter you will be able to ski everyday just like the kid above said.

those are the private schools off the top of my head that are relativley near skiing. it might be hard to balance a good education and good skiing though. anyone can feel free to comment on what i said

i went to green mountain valley school in VT. im from the valley so i didn't live in the dorms... even though its only racing, i got to ski 6 days a week- eventually the coaches just let me do my own thing when they realized i really wasn't passionate about staying in a course 100% of the time. the nice thing for me is that all the kids i grew up with went to harwood (the public school) so i still got to have that life too.
