Yo! So I'm a ski instructor at a tiny hill, we recently went a bought an old rail for our park. Problem is the rail is very rusty with chipped paint all over, anyone got any tips/tricks for cleaning it up and what wax to use? Thanks fellas

Grind down the surface with a wire wheel on a grinder till no rust or paint and then paint it and grease with anything preferably muffin grease

This. If you're pressed for time, you can get the rail grind-able by scraping the edges of an old ski up and down it to knock off the rust.

Wire wheel or grinder wheel. If you dont have one of those a metal scraper and a wire brush to get most of the rust off. Then paint. Shouldn't have to wax it unless you cant get rust off.

Yea what he said.

Dude props to you! Kids are going to be way stoked.

Out of curiosity how did you go about buying it? #askingforafriend

Whire wheel and flap disc after to smooth it out. Also use a higher number grit and wear it in a bit first. I usually try to stay to the side and things come out more polished.

Just wire wheeling might be enough. Also when painting for next season run tape on the top and paint the sides with good paint and leave the top clean or spray paint it. Spray paint comes off easily and slides smooth/comes right off under skis.

Yeah they're gonna love it! Finally talked to my boss about getting a freestyle lesson in for some of the older kids! I know a guy that works at a local hill in the park crew and asked if they had any old rails they were trying to get rid of. So maybe call around to local hills and ask, hope this helps!
