Prep for new skis

yo, just got myself a new pair of k2 extreme. was wondering, since the edge are slicing hard, how to tune them to jib. can i hit rails right away or do i manually use them or...what?

You can either dull them yourself or just ski on them and let them detune on their own. You may catch a couple edges, but they'll dull pretty quickly

ya, either file them down, or you can have a shop do it if you don't know how

you can unclip your skis beside a little rail and manually rub the middle of the skis on the rail but make sure youre not in the way of anyone

its a really quick job, just get a small file and go slowly and evenly along the edges. i do that with my park skis, but the ones i use in the pipe and on jumps i try to sharpen once in a while.

Run a gummi stone along the edges beneath your ski boot. I would wax them as well.

The extreme comes with a 1 degree base bevel out of the factory. You want a 2 or 2.5 degree bevel for park, also measure 15-20 cm from the very center of the tip/tail and go down the edge with a gummi stone to de-tune the shovel in each side of the ski (This helps with butters).
