Premiere pro cs3 or cs4

well naturally when a company puts out an upgrade, they take out a lot of the useful features that were instaled in the previous version. Plus everyone knows that #1 is better than #2 which is better than #3.. so go with CS1 if you can, if not get 3.

^Hahahahahahaha

Seriously though. If you have access to both, which one do you think you should get?

i dont see why its really a question if you have access to both.

Maybe you're looking for some input into both of them, a compare and contrast of sorts? If so, here's a brief review.

I've used both, but i've been using cs4 for the past... year almost now? a long while, so i don't really recall cs3 all that well. I'd say the biggest plus for me about cs4 though was that they made the video encoder (or exporter if you haven't dealt with premiere at all), into another program that comes with premiere. It's called Adobe Media Encoder, and its a beautiful thing. This addition of this allows you to keep working on other projects in premire while you're exporting a file in the encoder. In all the previous versions the encoder was part of premiere so while you were exporting you couldn't really do anything at all. Umm... other than that I'm not sure of anything too new from cs3. Again, having to do with the encoder, they allow the use of a couple more codecs, which is always good. And the settings seem to be more substantial than in previous versions. Oh ya, and perhaps a huge plus depending on what camera you're using, CS4 allows the use of AVCHD footage, without having to ... i dont know, whatever you would have to do to it on fcp or most other NLEs to be able to work with it.

But ya, not too sure why i even wrote that up. just get CS4 if possible. If not, CS3 will still get the job done, so don't sweat it. ... unless you're planning on working with AVCHD footage, in which case you're done for.

yeah i use avchd and i hate it, its not even worth the trouble.

i am currently using premeire elements 7 and i've outgrown that program but it recognizes my format of video, so the question i really should be asking is, does CS3, or CS4 recognize avchd footage?
