Predictions for who will go the Tanner/Sammy C Route in their Career?

Feel like Tanner and Sammy followed similar trajectories to some degree (comp stardom to transitioning to pow/bigmountain/filming). Any predictions/hopes for who is killing the comp scene today but who might take the same route?

Alex Hall is starting to make this transition a little bit. I assume he will stay on the comp scene for a while though because he I skilling it right now.

The days of the goat are over. More flash in the pan than raging fire these days. Sammy is the last goat for a while IMO

I loved good company's feature with Tom throwing down that massive switch dub 10 in the pow. He may be on the mic now, but I'd say he's still one of the best rail skiers in the world today. But seeing people throwing bios and shit onto rails is absurd

literally almost every pro as they get older. except tom, he transitioned into da mic

Bobby Brown is doing that right now I'd say.

Good point yeah. I remember Be water was fire but haven't seen much of his other stuff lately I'll have to look into it

Most of the names I’m seeing here are missing a key component that both Tanner and Sammy had. They absolutely dominated the competition scene at one point in time.

My vote for who will do that and then kill the bc is Birk Irving.

lol I'm a hard no on this. yeah ski boss isn't as good as he was 15 years ago but he's still out here skiing park and learning new tricks, hitting the streets, and shredding backcountry obviously.

sammy c releases a totally forgettable project year after year. he fucking shreds but has very little influence on the ski scene

Im gonna foo ahead and throw Sander Hadley in the mix on this one. Dude used to shred park and is a crazy talented skier. Ive been hopeful that him signing with Dynastar is finally going to get him the exposure he deserves.

I'd say Tanner is as good or better than he was 15 years ago, it's just the progression of park riding has been crazy, sure he's not going off Chad's switch, but that might be something we never see again, and he's landing triples

Sander's the way I see it is the closest I've seen to candide level skiing, except for maybe Freeland's one of those mineral laps. Both are insanely talented, but I'd agree sander has more style.

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. Sammy produces footage that is nuts. Some of you guys need to remember that the ski scene extends outside of urban and park/pipe. If you go over to TGR they actually know who Sammy is and watch his edits. My guess is that there are plenty of skiers on here that many of you guys think are FAR more influential on the ski scene than Sammy. My guess is that I have not heard of many of them. I don't really follow the comps you guys do. I'm much more likely to know an FWT competitor than a slopestyle competitor these days.

I hope people will understand that I'm not criticizing park skiing. I'm just saying that there are many serious skiers who don't think about it all that much. I will watch the xgames if it happens to be on, but I don't really follow park comps all that much these days.

I do think it is really cool when someone can combine a great park segment with a great big mountain segment in the same movie. Richard Permin in Superheroes of Stoke, and a bunch of others, come to mind.

joona kangas does pretty well in comps (slvsh included) and had some cool all-mountain clips in keeshlife 2

A lot of people named in this thread you only really see hitting BC booters not doing sick lines.

I'm being 100% serious haha, I've seen this argument made a bunch of times on NS, that everyone on here doesn't appreciate freeride skiing and doesn't realize that skiing exists outside the NS community. TBH I really don't give a fuck about what people on TGR or r/skiing or whatever think, if I did I would go on those websites

You can't be serious....

Sander bas always been such a big Inspo I'd love to see him blow up and evolve into his true legend form.. I remember meeting him at windells when I was young and he was throwing just the floaties dub backs off the big jump in the lasn that year. Lots of people throwing techy dubs and think I even saw a triple, but nothing stood out to me more yhat whole week than how sick his double backs were.

I think he's a great skier, one of the best of all time, I just find the content he puts out to be pretty forgettable. I can't even think of the name of his most recent project. I'm sorry but no matter how good of a skier you are, if you put out similar content every season people won't really notice. I hardly ever see people talk about sammy on here and I think that's the reason why.

the level of skiing is too high in park and freeride right now. We are seeing park skiers like pk hunder, russ henshaw etc. retire from skiing because to be a big mountain skier you have to be at the highest level and not without acls

what was that? cruise control?

i like thinking about whether we'll see someone hit chad's switch again. it's still one of the gnarliest things ever done and i feel bad for olsson that he just barely missed his landings on his sw 9s there

I'm thinking Revelstoke actually. Probably buy a house for my next movie, definitely going to be self titled, have a rapper make me a track.

On Andy Parry's tiktok it showed him buying a snowmobile and he said he was moving to Mount Baker

No, no - you have to name it something totally ambiguous and unrelated to skiing like Deliverance, or Inquisition.

Put that shit on a title screen in italics over some B-roll of pine trees with a few meaningless industry "awards" and ...boom you got yourself a pow movie

Idk if it’s a prediction but I’d like to see Vincent Garnier on some backcountry booters more often

I think as people get older, a lot of them decide to do what they enjoy the most and try to make the best of it for their career. I would say skiing deep pow in the back country is probably more fun and sustainable for their body than b2b2b both way triples in ice and snow for XGAMESMEGAMODEWTOURMONSTERENEERGYBRO comp mode type beat.
