PowderBeats - Ski Music App - seeking feedback

If I had a smartphone or an iPod for that matter, I would definitely buy. One suggestion, I know it's not big, but your icon isn't really original, and I like that in an app. There is a lot you could do with the name "PowderBeats", I would love to see you execute it. Other than that, the layout looks awesome. Definitely something the skiing/snowboarding community would pick up on with a little advertising.

Definitely not limited to skiing either, just a good test market I know a thing or two about. Motorcycle gangs, in the library, road trips anytime someone needs to listen to something in headphones and they want to broadcast across multiple pairs.

Icon is definitely a work in progress. Any other ideas / feedback is greatly appreciated. What do you guys want to see in the app? What would make it sweet?

yeh i agree what that guy above said, change the logo because it's not original and you want your product to stand out.

Also, I'm not entirely sure I understand what makes this product unique to skiing. Couldn't the fact that you can share the song your listening to be applied to 100 more situations? You may be narrowing your market base by just applying it to skiing

Or I may just not fully understand the product then..

Certainly not limited to skiing - could be across any number of sports / activities.

This looks like a great idea. I definitely wouldn't give it a skiing related name though. And when you share music is it music off of your ipod collection of is it similar to an internet radio situation?
 
Icon is a temp and not original at all. We will have our own shortly. What about platform? I am open to using android (in fact I prefer it) What would you guys say?

I definitely want to try this out. Such a cool idea. It could make skiing with friends that much funner.
 
I'm seriously loving the feedback I've received here.

I'm hoping to develop simultaneously for both platforms - we are just gathering more information about our user base. If you guys do head over tohttp://www.powderbeats.com and let me know what platform you are on.

Once we launch I will provide the newschoolers community with some sweet promotions (including possible the app for free) for all of your awesome help so far.
 
I would offer an ad based version if you can, like fully functioning with a splash screen at the start and maybe a little bar, because everyone is going to have to download it. Such a sick idea tho, and I could see it going way beyond skiing
 
Dude, this is an amazing idea. If you wanted to make more money out of it you could try and market it towards tour operators etc who would normally have headsets or something similar with pre recorded info on them.

Just a thought.
 
just don't ever change the name. It'd be sick if you introduced it and first marketed it towards the skiing community and then broaden it from there. It'll give skiing a little extra flava.
 
damn good idea. Android has a better community and less restrictions for the market than Apple. Phones that run Android also typically have better performance (CPU, etc) at this point than Apple devices as well. Food for thought.
