Powder skis for big man

Yes I have used the search bar but I'm specifically looking for a ski for a big guy.

My powder ski knowledge is limited. Still riding my Pollard Pros from 2004/2005 and need a powder specific ski, and I'll be touring. I'm 6 foot but weigh 230 pounds (too much gym). Jibbing isn't so important for me.

What should I buy?

Any help/recommendations much appreciated.
 
it is rumored that armada will be releasing a 195 "Jumbo" JJ possibly mid next season. im 5'8 and ride the 185s so the 195 should work well for you.
 
Why a big guy who's gonna be touring want a heavy, soft ski?? Think before you post please. 191 ON3P Wrenegade might be a good choice (yes, I've actually used a pair). They're relatively light for their size (nothing like a BD ski but still) and would be plenty burly for your weight. I've also heard rumors of a super JJ, which might also be worth checking out.
 
cease and desists are fucking scary.

i rode tommy's (mrstskier) and they weighed 23 pounds including his 100% steel salomon bindings. so, they absolutely slay through crud, and i bet they're amazing in deep pow, but this is not what you're going to want to be skiing in anything but that.

on the other hand, i bet caylors are going to be a lot better suited for you.
 
For the record, Cease and Desists are 6.17lbs/ski, 191 Caylors are 5.73lbs/ski.
Cease and Desists have surprised me. Very maneuverable and strangely carvable on groomers for such a big ski, effortless in deep pow, bomber in chop. I only carry more esteem for the 191 Caylors because its more stable switch.
 
wrong. get something stiff and around 190-195. Line motherships or something similar, although the motherships wouldn't tour too great. What bindings were you thinking about?
 
I'll probably get the marker dukes, unless anyone would suggest otherwise.

Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated. I live in England and ON3P skis haven't made it over to Europe yet, and I've had difficulty in the past getting stuff into the UK from the US so I think unfortunately they're a no go.

By the sounds of things the Armada JJ's might be too small for me at 185? A 195 would be awesome but obviously only rumours at the moment. Sounds like an awesome ski and the kind of thing I would be looking for.

Rossi S7 looks like it might work for me, and the Moment Bibby, and I think I could get both of those in the UK.

Grrr....too many choices!

just curious where are you skiing pow and touring in england? its all indoor there right? im assuming you travel?
 
Haha! Definitely not touring in England! It is all indoor, so yeah I have to go abroad for skiing. I'm planning a trip to Kashmir in India next season, looking at stuff now in case I can pick anything up in end of season sales.
 
Rossignol RC 112 in 188 or 198. It's super stiff and is really fun. However it would suck for tours longer than 3 or 4 hours depending how fit you are because they are pretty heavy and have a fairly rockered tip.

Exactly. Planning to be out there in Feb. Have you been before? When are you planning to be out there?
 
look into the chop sticks too...the only thing is they wont be the best for touring.
do u NEED a twin tip? cause if you want a burly ski, look at the rossi squads or something u know?

 
Rossi s7, the amp tech is amazing, they shouldnt be to heavy unless your going on 30 mile treks, but in that case Bd or G3 with freeries or a dynafit setup would be what you would want. other then that i would maybe say a S.F.Bacon, might be a little soft but they are good and light.. still would go for the s7
