Powder Ski Recommendations?

So I'm going to buy some powder skis some time during this ski season, and I am looking for suggestions as I don't know much about pow skis. I would like something with a mid-stiff flex that is stable at high speeds and would work well for cliffs and drops. It would be nice to have some versatility as well, to be able to take a few groomer runs or ski through crud, but I have my ar7's for my non powder day skis so it's not crucial. So far, the caylors look amazing if I can afford them, and I'm also considering the bent chetlers, or the jjs. Any opions on these skis, or other suggestions?

+k for helpful answers

Do you want something directional or bidirectional? Do you mainly ski faces or trees/tight technical lines? Where do you ski? I can think of a number of good skis to match your description but the list will be smaller if you answer those questions.

-I'd definitely like a twin tip, but I'm not not going to be riding switch that often, maybe landing switch off of a kicker every once in a while.

-I ski a fairly even amount of open and trees, maybe 60% trees 40% open

-I mainly ski at breckenridge, a-basin, keystone, or vail, but I also take trips to other places

- I'm 6' 150

Sounds like you want somthing with rocker in the tip and tale but camber under foot to carve and eat crud. A traditional tail would eat crud/chop better. your choice thought. Caylors would kill everything want though. Evo has some from last year. I'll post some other with it that might catch your fancy.

I really wanna test this ski. It might be the one you want. Wide dimensions, rocker in tip and tail, full twin.

Thanks to all who posted^ Also, 2 questions

1. Would the atomic blogs perform well as well in powder as something like the bent chetlers or rocker 2s?

2. Would the nordica patrons be a good option?

You should check out some local sticks too my man.

Rocky Mountain Underground, Fatypus, and Liberty to name a few...all made in CO

http://www.boomtownsports.com/2011/ullr-skis/. Small company in nelson BC,my brother redesigned the shape of the ski since Dales original design and they are absolutely amazing. They carve really nicely at high speeds on groomers actually and they have maaaad rocker for the deep stuff. You won't find a lighter powder ski on the market and they have notches in the tail for skin's. I weigh about 145lbs and ride the 180cm center mounted, you always come out on top on these things after a drop, even if its a 40+ footer. They aren't too pricey and they should last you a lifetime, bamboo has a higher tensile strength than steel for its weight. 530253.jpeg

I did the same thing a few years ago I had tried a lot of different skis. I decided I wanted camber and some early rise rocker so I could kill it everywhere.

checkout www.skilogik.com

If you want something awesome and totally different that will get you noticed these are the skis. They are real wood veneered and kill it everywhere. Everywhere I go people stop me and can't stop talking about my skis.

I now own the howitzers and the rockstars, but I hear the ullrs chariot and bombsquad kill it too.

Here is a review I did of it on line.

armada tsts. hit pow in the morning then rip on groomers in the afternoon. you can ride them switch but is ment to go straight and fast. but there are a lot of choices out there.

Obviously in super deep snow the BC or rockers2 with out perform the blog or patron. But the blog and patron wont be bad in the pow at all.

Patrons are in the same category of blogs. I'd pick blogs over patrons.

For what you have said, I'd reccommend the atomic bent chetler, on3p caylor, klint krypto, moment night train, k2 pettitor/obsethed, line mr. Pollards opus, bluehouse maestro, and possibly volkl shiro. Now that you have all these recommendations from me and other posters, do research on the skis themselves and from there decide which ones you like.

Yeah that sounds good. I'll do some more research and demo a few of the suggested skis before making my decision.

Thanks to all who posted in this thread, definitely some great suggestions.
