Powder Ski Recommendations

Hey guys I was just looking to use some of NS vast knowledge to help me out. I'm looking for some new powder/all mountain skis for this season to demo and possibly purchase. Here is a bit of info about me: I'm 22, about 182cm and I weigh around 94 kgs. I'm Australian but I already own a pair of 4frnt stls that I ski exclusively in Aus, so I'm looking for a ski just to use when I'm overseas. I'm over in Canada most seasons and I mainly ski interior BC (Sun Peaks, Revy, Kicking Horse, Big White) and Whistler, as well as semi-frequent trips down south to Baker, Jackson Hole and some of the Utah resorts.

I like to ski mainly powder and trees, my perfect day would be charging drops and trees in knee to waist high powder while avoiding groomers as much as possible. However because I travel alot I would also like a ski that I can use on groomers (dosn't have to be an amazing carver just good enough so I can cruise around on groomers sometimes) as well as skied out stuff, as I won't have the option to swap out into another ski most of the time. I am a good skier and can handle pretty much everywhere on any resort no problem.

I currently own the 2008/09 K2 Obsethed (I think they are 08/09 anyway, they are the ones that are green and purple on top with helicoptors flying around a moutain and a fluro green base) and I love them. They are 182cm in length and I can't remember the waist width for that season but it looks around 105-110. I would have gone Obsethed again but my friend tried last season's and he reckons they are no longer as good as they used to be. I will probably still demo this year's model to try for myself but as I said I'm looking for some other suggestions.

So anyone have any idea's for me either from skis they tried last year or skis they have seen in the shops so far for this season?

Cheers

here are a few sick skisarmada JJ- super sick and pretty much perfect for what u want

rossi s7- a little stiffer then the JJ

armada TST- would be better for groomers

Surface new life- dont know alot about them but heard they are great

line- mr pollard opus- a really sick ski that will handle what u want

and atomic bentchetler- super playfull ski and alot of fun

Atomic Bentfuckingchetler. Most fun pow ski I have ever been on. Way more fun than JJs, Rocker2s, Czars, Obsetheds or anything else I have ever ridden. They grip fairly well on the hard stuff and almost roll around in the soft stuff. Worth looking at for sure!

Awesome thanks guys for giving me some ideas, I have heard some great things about the bentchetlers. My mate who I have skied and traveled with all over BC also told me the bentchetlers were amazing so I will be checking them out this year for sure.

UUUUUUuuuuummmmmm??? pretty sure the s7 is way fucking softer than the jj. Now the super7 thats a different story.

And to the op, the jj sounds perfect

Well, I'm similar dimensions, also happen to be Australian! I got the Moment Bibby Pro in a 190, and my ideal day is the same as yours. But seeing as they are pretty stiff, and you like your shorter, much softer seths maybe you should look into a softer ski like the AK JJ, Volkl Shiro, Bentchetler etc.

PM me if you wanna have a shred in whis, I'm there all season.

Cheers mate probably not looking at buying for awhile yet more just trying a few pairs out but if I change my mind or suddenly come into some cash I'll let you know

I grew skiing Sun Peaks, and I now ski Kicking Horse.

My everyday ski is a 191 Faction 3.Zero. My skinny ski is a 189 4frnt Turbo. I have a 190 Boomerang for POW days.

If I was to get another pow ski I would get a 190 Faction Royale or a 191 Billy Goat.

To translate for those who don't like the metric system: 90kg = 200lbs (give or take)

I feel like Bentchetlers (at least the 183) will be too soft, and too short. Shorter than your Obsetheds due to K2s measuring.

Do you basically want a similar ski to your obsetheds? By todays (NS) standards a 183cm (true length of 179 obsetheds) ski that is 105 underfoot isn't really a pow ski. I understand you want some versatility but you would probably enjoy going a bit longer and wider?

Yeah I'm happy with longer and wider skis I was just giving people an idea about what I am skiing now. I was actually thinking about buying longer skis when I got the seths and would have probably got the 189s except I couldn't find them at any of the shops where I was, I was gonna get another type of ski for the length but then I tried the seths and I liked the way they skied. If you think a wider longer one would be better what would you suggest?
