Powder Ski Help

Hey NS, This winter I might have the opportunity to ski out west in some powder.

I think it might be either Telluride, Alta or Whistler. I am an advanced east coast skier that besides park, likes to ski woods and steeps.

I'm 5'11, 180 pounds and I am hoping to spend not more than 600 without binders, but at this stage I am more looking at the ski than what it will cost me.

The only problem is I don't have a very solid idea on what type of powder ski I want. Or how what length I want it in. Normally I ski an 171 (should be bigger, it's been awhile) I was looking at the

What type of terrain do you "normally/wish you could" ride on a pow day? On that terrain, are you jibbing, hittin booters, mini-golfing, charging gnar...? Sidecountry, trekking on these skis? Are you going to ride them on non pow days at all?

just take EP's and Bents off that list.

and that comes from someone who owns a pair of Hellbents and once owned a pair of EP's.

^^safest thing to do after a fresh dump!only downside, when you hit the ball too hard and it flies off into the powder it's a pain in the ass to retrieve it ....
now on topic:How long do you plan to spend out west?is it only a week you're staying there or for a longer period....
if it's only a week, you could save yourself the money and just rent or demo different powder planks and see for yourself what you like, and maybe buy a pair next year ....

If you are gooing in west just 1 week you should rent or buy used powder ski. Last year i haved the same decision to make. Im from the east too and i buy some 175cm JJ's for my trip in Utah. They cost me 600$ whit jester both new. Crazy deal there but since im 5'11 and 150lbs they are a little short. So I would suggest you to rent some, buy a pair if you are going to make a trip in west each seasons. Btw JJ,s are very good ski and they kill everywhere. Take a look into bentchetler and Atomic blog. Hope i help you out

i have last years bentchetlers and i ski in BC up in vernon at silverstar so that is west i suppose. i weigh much less than you but am relatively the same height and i believe the bentchetlers would fit you just right. their so perfect for me because im still able to throw them around and am able to charge through anything id say if you could find a used pair of those that would be your best bet
