Powder/park ski

So I just came back from skiing at Heavenly up here in Lake Tahoe, where there was some major pow to be had in the right places, after the big storm that just rolled by. I only have two skis at this point, some 2005 k2 public enemies at 159cm, and some line anthem octolands at 161cm. I decided to roll with the Anthems this time because of the wider base(95), hoping that it would be fine in the powder.
While riding some nice trees, I found it pretty hard to control myself/I was getting tired as hell fighting the ski to go the way I wanted it to. I dunno if it was because it was my first day riding this season, or because the anthems weren't meant to do a little back country or I just suck lol. So I've been looking at some skis that are more powder oriented, but still able to handle a bit of park/groomer if I decide to take a break during a pow day at Tahoe and hit the park in between some runs.
I guess I've narrowed it down to pre-2011 169 K2 Obsethed(prolly used since the 2011's are wider and more like the hellbents) or the 175 Armada JJ.
I heard the Armada JJ are more light/playful/noodlier than the K2 Obsethed, and since I'm a pretty light guy, it looks like the JJ would be more fun for me, imo.
I've been using the anthem for about 1 season, and maybe its just be, but the anthem feels stiff. is this because i got 161 or what? They also are kind of heavy imo
Oh and, I'm thinking about selling my k2 public enemies, should i take the bindings off of that and mount them on my new ski, or sell it with the PEs? They are some pretty nice look bindings, I forgot the details, but they do rotate a little bit at the heel end I think.

CLIFFNOTES: I'm riding line anthem octolands 161 right now, I want a better pow/park ski. Armada JJ 175 or K2 Obsethed 169 and why?

I shall let you know in 6 days after I get my arse to the french alps with my new armada jjs, I've heard nothing but good things!

However I'm staying clear of rails and the park in general on those, too nice to take there for sure. Got my beat-up park skis for rails and jibbing.

JJ's are good, but you dont want them in the park. They are fun in the park, but thats it, maybe blnend or sfb for park and pow.

has anybody tried both? which one feels more light/ does better tight turns?
my main concern is just pow days+groomers

Line Blends...rip everything from park to powder and groomers to trees...i ski east coast all year and Tahoe once and i love them.

first off, no such thing as a powder/park ski. you can get close with a few tweener skis like the blend or jj but your best off to get the best of both worlds. understandable though if money is an issue. blend/kung fujas/jj/anthem would all do ok in both worlds, with KF/blend/JJ all excelling in all mtn/powder and the anthem the opposite.

the reason you were finding it hard to manage the ski is because you probably were not going fast enough in the amount of snow that you had, the anthem will do ok in that condition of snow you just have to know how to ski. and yes the anthem is a softer ski

thanks ski baller and ace!
how do i control myself better in the pow with anthems? and yes they are center mounted. I'm kind of a nub but tails hooking means it'll make me have a much wider turn right? kinda like drifting with cars, since the tail never pops out i'll always be understeering?

center mount doesn't help at all, puts you more forward in powder which is not what you want. "hooky" tails mean the ski has a pronounced sidecut and will more or less shoot you into your turn quicker than a ski with no tail or low sidecut. so the opposite of what you are thinking, i think.

oo ok that makes sense, so having a hook tail makes me turn real fast and it doesnt really allow me to make that smooth S right?
any tips on riding better on anthems during pow days then? I tried leaning back, trying to let the ski float by itself and just drag me, but it was just ripping apart my knees. my knees felt like they were going to explode. maybe i need to do more squats? lol
