so i am 6'3 about 215 rode the 186 (i think) automatics, and i live in utah ride brighton. just trying to decide whether i want these or not im not used to riding something with so little tail can i mount these a little farther up from the recommended spot or will it drastically change things. and i am alos probably going to get the 193 or whatever size it is. loved ridng these by the way

and i have ridden the bents and liked those to i just feel like i can charge harder with the automatics.

also any other ski choices something like these maybe that would be better to center mount?

and lol, i plan to just ride whatever with these pow, crud, trees, etc, any advise would be awesome. and best bindings ffor them as well would be aweesome.

It won't do you any good to center mount automatics or any other "playful charger". Do you plan on riding switch at all? If so, definitely look more in the direction of the chets or something similar

never said i wanted to center mount them... just said i want to maybe put them a couple cm forward from recommended mounting point, and i do plan to hit jumps and such with these so i will have the occasional ride switch. but not super often.

6ft4, 80kg. I was on 193 Automatics all of last winter (at +2.5, definitely mount them forward of the line) and switched to 192 Bent Chetlers this winter. There is very little that the Automatic does better than the Bent Chetler; it feels a little quicker to edge of firm snow but that's about it. The Bent Chetler feels way more surfy and fun in soft snow, still handles hard snow well, is the same or better in crud and lands just as well because the tails are stiffer and longer even though they're more rockered. More fun and just as "chargy". The Automatic is good at everything just not great at anything.

For what it's worth, Sage & Dana mount their Automatics at +2cm. I have my 186s mounted at +1.5 and it feels perfect for how I ski anyway.

Personally I find the Automatics a bit quicker than the Bentchetlers of the same year. But then you can't really go wrong there either. Richard Permin started out on Automatics and then switched to Bentchetlers too. It's a fine line.

how tall are you to have 186's? im 6'3 and was thinking about getting the 186 since im not skiing big ass alaska lines ha

I'm 6'3, 200 and I went with Amplid Lexington's. They are 185, 155-130-151 and a medium flex. Super fun, stable and like you I'm not charging on them. Trees and open bowls and maybe drops of 8-10 feet. I found them more fun than Bent's.

These (like other rockered pow sticks) are very maneuverable and feel shorter than their measurement might indicate. I am 5'11" and 175lbs and generally like a longer ski (185+) for most anything. I use the 186 for my resort pow ski, and I do have a 192 for the wide open days. I find myself on the 186 way more frequently. The 192 has a stiffer profile besides being longer. What skis are you currently on, and have you tried any of the newer pow skis?

yea i have tried a few different brands of pow skis but i reallyliked these the most of any of them. and i only started skiing like 3 years ago but im on the resort everyday and i switched form boarding so last year was my first time on pow sticks and i ride old ass 4frnt tnks right now soo i just need something to charge on and i almost think the 193 might just be a bit more than i really need. thanks for the help by the way much appreciated.
