Long Underwear.
Sometimes I'll carry a heavier weight down jacket, but even if I do bring it, the down usually stays in my pack anyway.
Springtime I'll use soft shell pants, at the moment the Patagonia Guide pants are working pretty well for me. And I'll usually just throw a windshirt over a fleece layer on top. I used to use softshell jackets, but I'm not so fond of them anymore.
