Post high school ski trip

Sup NS's. I've been thinking about about University and still have no fucking ideas what I want to do so I'm thinking of getting some life experience before I go in. I'll be 17 when I graduate in November ( Australian school year). Over my summer/Christmas break I was over in Canada teaching skiing for a couple months ( I'm a dual citizen so work visas for Canada don't really matter for me) and it was shit tonnes of fun. I'm planning on going back once I finish up and doing a season. My grandparents own a place on the hill and they said I could stay in so rent will be free. After I finish up the season, I kinda want to do a first trip around to some mountains.

I have an uncle who lives up in Powell River (a couple hours on a ferry to the north of Vancouver) who used to be a wood shop teacher at the local highschool. I'm thinking of buying a van and converting it into a camper. Also could do a bus if there is a good enough deal or have a crew. Try to get a job in Powell River to keep saving over the summer. From there probably buy an ikon pass out something similar and ski all through the a

West coast hopefully down to Squaw or mammoth.

Just wanted to throw it out there and get some opinions. What kinda budget would this require as well? Given I make about 400 every two weeks teaching skiing. Also does anyone have info about international driver's licences. How young can you be to have one?

According to this site:https://www.usa.gov/visitors-driving

Driving laws vary from state to state and you'd need contact your MOT? (who issues driver’s licenses down there) to get an IDP (international driving permit)

I think your trip sounds great, do it.

I checked with the Australian Gov. I have to be 18 to get my international license. I don't actually need one to drive for 3 months. Might just take the risk. Probably going to biking around a lot as well in the summer so should be fine. Might even be worth buying a already converted van/bus to avoid material costs. Just an idea. Thanks for your help tho

if you have an Australian full license you can just straight swap it for a Canadian one after this little test that they just give you the answers to.

Then you can drive as much as you like all in canada and the states

I think it has to be a full license. But Im not 100% sure. One thing to be aware of too is getting insurance for the car. is expensive and im not sure how it would go without a full license . So if you can get you full before hand its probably better

It won't be possible, I have to be 20 to take my open license test. I'll be about 17 when I go over.
