Post counter wrong? Over 1 million posts?

Umm, i was lookin at that total posts counter on the main forum page, and it says 972,436 posts, but i added up the posts for all the forums, and its well over 1,030,000 posts.. thats alot of posts, over a million.. holy shit..

go to the forums page (were it lists all the forums), it has a total posts beside each number..

The discrepancy could easily be due to deleted posts, 99% of them mostly the deleted spam that's come and gone recently.
