Positive things in life

After reading an earlier post "Suicide" I decided to make something NSers can post on to share what they did to make themselves and others to feel great, maybe it's sticking up for a kid being bullied, giving spare change to a homeless man, talking to that old friend you ignored the past year. ANYTHING

Here's my positive for today, it was about 9pm saw this little old lady standing in a "Car Pooling Lot" with her cars hood open, having her be the only car there I pulled in to see what the problem was (also considering how Shitty the area was with gang violence) I knew it was dangerous just to leave her there, so I stopped asked her why she was still there and she told me she got dropped off at 6pm by her hey taxi and she went to her car and the battery was completely dead, so I helped her just start the car and she thanked me, said "oh thank you so much, I wouldn't of known how long I would be here if you didn't stop, because I left my cell phone at work and my husbands on a golfing trip in Florida" so after a ton of thanks she offered me $100 I kindly declined and said I'm just happy I was able to help.

I got an Iphone 4 oranges cassette case. Don't have an Iphone so if anyone in Ontario wants it I'll send it to them.

i didn't start someones car or save someones life or anything today but i did make sure to find one of my friends who's going through some rough times and i gave her a big ass hug that i hope made her feel a little bit better.

also made sure to support the two or three kids on my hockey team that have never played before, just like i try to do everyday, because i truly respect them for coming out day after day just to get outplayed and hit hard. its awesome to see a kid who's never skated before get knocked over and stand up smiling simply because he loves the sport just like i do.

i've also got an awesome girl that i like a lot, and tons of friends that i value greatly.

Well it's not me, but a friend of mine:

She was working the other day in a retail store and was having a bad day when a stranger who she recognized from being in the store a few minutes before returned to the store with a coffe in his hand. He approached her and gave her the coffee, saying that he noticed that she probably needs it.

So then I asked how she was going to pass on the karma but she wasn't sure yet because opportunity hadn't arose.

Sure enough, at the next day at work (which was a long shift - like 10-6), one of her coworkers had forgotten lunch money and would have to go until 6pm before she could eat again. So my friend graciously bought her lunch.

I love these instances of passing on karma. After she told me about this I was inspired to start a reaction like this. I haven't done it yet, but it's only been a couple days since she did this.

I like this thread. I have nothing worthy to contribute right now, but I hope that I will. I don't understand why people (me included) sometimes ignore the general public so much. The world is a much nicer place when everybody helps out even a little. I want to make it a point to go out of the way much more to help people out in this way.

just congratulating a player on the team that we lost to that i know felt so much better than everyone else on my team who was all mean to the other team

I like this thread

I've payed for a couple people lunches before, because they didn't have or couldn't find their money. I'm generally not a very nice person mind you.

Got a better one. The other day in my genetics lab one of my partners is a study abroad student from Cameroon Africa who speaks broken English. Our lab was running late and it was getting pretty cold and nasty out. He was getting very nervous about lab running late because he had to walk home pretty far and was going to be late for his host family's dinner. We finished lab and I gave him a ride home in my Pontiac sunfire. He was super impressed with my car even though it's nothing special. He kept going on about how I am lucky to have a car for the $3100 I bought it for. Really a humbling experience that made me feel great and let me remember how lucky I am compared to other parts of the world. Here is my partner, thousands of miles from his family in a strange place with different people and language and yet he is happy and positive as anyone I know if not more so.

end of my club soccer season yesterday. bittersweet that we lost and that it was the end, but we ended up switching jerseys with the other team and they brought us bottles of cider afterwards to celebrate a good season. definite +k to all of them

Coming home to see my doggy give me endless affection no matter what my day has been like.

Waking up every morning to an amazing view out my back window.

Studying for a test and getting a good well deserved grade on it.

I've been spending a lot of time working on school stuff however I do teach freestyle skiing to a bunch of young kids on saturdays. It feels good to be able to coach a bunch of keen young shredders.

good, good, but you don't need to think about karma to do something nice for somebody else, just forget about that and do it anyway. :)

Around a week ago, my family and I were going through a coffee shop drive through. We were getting hot chocolate before we got out Christmas tree, and the guy in front of us bought our hot chocolate for us. It was really cool, I'm gonna pass it on next time I do a drive through

Couple of hs seniors in my hometownwho were In a car accident ( claimed the lives of 2 others) got phone calls from Tim Tebow and Missy Franklin in the hospital, it's a silver lining in a tragic situation

Something I do sometimes. I encourage people who are proud of their stuff, even if it is against my values... For exemple, if a tuned up car shows around, I could make it obvious that I really like his car by looking at it intensively, even if I don't like cars. Often the guy will jam the gas beiing really proud that his thousand dollar pile of shit is geting attention. I figure i'd rather see someone happy. Probably doesn't make much sense...

A few days ago I was just skiing on a little hill near where I live with a few jumps built on it. It turns our that as I was walking back my poles fell off my back. About 5 minutes this guy from my building I kind of know came sprinting up to me and asked if they were mine.

My friend gave everybody going into a test free cups of good coffee just to be nice.

I started meditating recently, and in addition to that everyday i try to spend my free-time thinking about our existence in my deep conscious, trying to truly ponder about what it all encompasses, and how what we know of this planet is the smallest fraction of the galaxy. I meditate, and think deeply sort of unifying all of my thoughts. Ive realized a lot about the nature of our existence, and how the result of most things we know, do and interact with is a result of time, building the combined knowledge of the human race, and ultimately creating every year the evolution of knowledge, to the point where everyone's brain is on the same page, making everything day to day go by smoothly as an adult.

We must be mindful of living in the present moment, only learning from the past, but not to plan too much of the future. Being happy and learning who you are and what your purpose is can be easily accessed through your own thoughts and perception, its all about determination, power of will, curiosity and inspiration is what i have found. Hopefully what i said here makes some sense .

Went today for the team weight lifting and this one freshman was doing leg presses, of course he didn't have a spotter because he didn't no any better, then all of a sudden I look over and see him adding on my weight but soon to see him attempt it and nearly get crushed before I ran over and helped him rack the weights....one thing if advise I told him is, you still got 4 years take baby steps to get better and you will be we're you want to be in no time, after the gym sesh, I was walking to my truck and he ran up to me and thanked me, and after ended up giving him a ride home as found out he's a pretty cool kid. I guess you gotta give everybody a shot no matter what you think of them.

How's this? This year at my school there was a new girl who had transferred from another in my county. Within the first couple of weeks of school she committed suicide while the rest of the school was on a backpacking trip (we do these sort of things at my school). When we got back we heard the news and a lot of people were devastated (This was the third high school suicide in our county in just a couple of years). Her friend, who was new to the school decided that she should be remembered and organized a paper crane donation thing. In just a week and a half our school alone made 1,000 cranes and in total she had received close to 2,500. As a school we went up to a river located near our school and filmed ourselves releasing the cranes down the river. It looked fucking sweet, all the cranes floating down the river. We showed the video at the memorial and her family was wordless. I just think it was great to see them happy after all their suffering and overall it was a great experience.

i love the whole chain reaction thing for good deeds. unfortunately, same thing goes for bad things, so if your pissed off about something just try to shrug it off and keep your head up to keep a positive vibe, because you dont wanna ruin other peoples days too

and same as someone else talking about being able to graduate without debt, im very thankful that my parents pay for all of my education

stupid small thing, but i think i fully fixed my macintosh for good now, if not i know how to keep the sound going.

anyway the favorite thing in my life would have to be making things, creating, like a park for example, i was building a jib park last saturday just because i wanted too, and the fact that people were staying and just hitting my jib park with just a few rails, might have been one of the most satisfying feelings i have ever had.

i just realized that this coming summer will be the best summer yet. no worries AT ALL because high school is done. past summers have been subpar because i've always been doing academic related things. This one will be a couple months of doing whatever the fuck i want before i go to college! So hyped. This is one of my motivations for going ham with the books right now.

So you're saying pussy doesn't make your life better??I don't know about you, but Id say getting some is a pretty big positive.

last year i loaned a kid i kinda know $200 for school registration after all his other friends turned him down.

i got a bunch of my friends jobs in the trades or potentially set their careers for the next 10 years for their lives. (very big around here)

teaching kids how to hit rails at the hill. it's always a good feeling when you see their faces when they first land it.

just always being polite and good manners i guess.

So many things in life are good. You just have to sit back a second and think, how lucky it is to be walking on earth. I mean life started as just simple chemical compounds. Its crazy to me just thinking how lucky life is. Why am I not a bird, a worm, a dog? Instead I won the damn lottery and am a human being. As far as we know right now, the smartest most capable beings in the universe ( Although I think there well possibly could be superior races present in the plumes of star debris, nubela and celistial masses floating through the uncharted abbys of space) To me It's fucking mind blowing life and everything around us.

I like that, I like that a lot. Pretty much summed up what I've been trying to word together nicely. My conclusions was just a random series of stuff that I couldn't quite piece together to make it easy for people to understand. What I like most is even if you're a religious person this implies just as well as a non-religious person.
