Positive Future Thread

So I have been sick and tired lately of so many peoples attitudes that we're all going to hell in a handbasket and that earth is fucked and the government is gonna control us! ie. 90% of youtube./news networks!

So I decided to change what I focus my attention on.

And I have been blown away by some of the solutions that are out there.

If you have a video or literature of something positive or an idea with huge potential to change how we live or improve humanity. POST IT HERE!

My first post will be

PERMACULTURE!

This has so much potential to radically alter our society and solve so many of the worlds problems. Created by Bill Mollison and Davis Holmgren is a system of using nature to our advantage to provide most of our need locally. Here is an older video on by Bill, but if you are interested in this subject there are more up to date videos and I will post links later.

next topic.

Money. This is a great documenatary that gives some great solutions to dealing with the money crisis that is building. You do have to sit through the explanation of the system and its failings. But then it is actually quite good.

Also posted in the comments I found a link to a great short story that explains the concept really well!

check it out.http://www.abelard.org/e-f-russell.php

Then there is this guy. Living proof that there is no need for an energy or oil crisis!

we should get rid of our dependance on this shit.

Bread and circuses.

But seriously, the more automation the better, fueled by new, lightweight energy capacitors recharged with renewable resources i.e. sun, water and wind with more sustainability in the power itself (transferability).

Imo all these "green" solar panel and windmill ideas only look nice but you could never power the whole world with it.

fusion power is our best bet, we're only a few years away from the first plants and a nuclear fusion can create retarded amounts of energy

If it was more profitable for energy companies to implement more renewable sources the advances in the technologies would skyrocket.

Thanks man, seems to be the aquaculture solution alongside permaculture!

Hopefully we can take a similar P.O.V on the deeper ocean too.

read this book:

Yeah man, I think there is a documentary on these guys too! It showed how they helped design one of FORD's factories. Ill go look

>1 hour+ of missing the point

Unless I missed the part where they recognized the fault of the government, that video is based on a false premise.

Spare 20 minutes of your time and watch parts 8 and 9 of the second Zeitgeist movie if you haven't already:

What on earth are you talking about? The real problem is that the US government signed away the obligation of money creation to a private Institution (FED). The solutions they provide are to empower people to create their own forms of currency and trade so we become less reliant on this fiat currency! They clearly explain the difference between an abundant currency and a scarce one.

Blaming the governments gets you nowhere, and they surely are not competent enough to fix the problems they have created. Definately is a reason we need to take matters into our own hands. They do just say that it should be supplemental until it is developed.

Anyway I wanna keep this thread on a positive note, so dont want an arguing shitstorm. take what you will from the posts. not meant to be perfect, just wanna see more solution based thinking rather than dwelling on problems.

pretty intersting documentary on the potential of the internet.

I read in Time Magazine that Germany is planning to eliminate nuclear energy completely be 2022. This is the first time that I have been pissed at a decision Germany since 1945. The damage that nuclear energy can do is not definitely going to be an issue, only if people are going to be dumb, and even if something goes horribly wrong, the effects are more or less local and contained. Compared to coal and oil, which if you use you are 100% sure that it will have a negative effect on the global environment, nuclear energy is far safer, not to mention something like 1000% more efficient.
And to the op- totally agree with you- i'm sick of people's negative attitudes. there are a lot of issues with the world today, but we had the power to create them, and we also have the power to fix them. and just like how it took time to create them, they're not going to go away over night, but that doesn't mean that they can't go away. sometimes i feel like people don't realize this and think that long-term solutions= never going to happen.
