Portrait of a Kendama Sensei

Hey guys,

I had the opportunity to travel to Japan this summer and I met this man and decided that I would like to make a mini doc on him. I know many of you are not into or familiar with kendama, but my hope is that this video is also enjoyable for non-kendama players.

Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks guys!

That was beautifully done Matt. It's a bummer NS wont recognize this much.

Haha I was waiting for him to bust out some mad stilt flips at the end.

that was amazing, strong emotive piece of work! seems like really interesting subject and i think you captured that really well.

i am now following you on vimeo!

I did get some footage of him playing, but it was with different lighting and at a different location. I wanted to keep it all in one location with the same sort of light/feel.

He's pretty good though. Amazingly clean. Great form.

ALSO, do you have plans for another short kendama film this year? Where We Are was incredible.

Thanks Gavin! No, not for WKT this fall. I am working on a bit shorter non WKT kendama film that will be out later around November. Most of the WKT guys were very busy last summer and now we are away at college.

There are plans, however, for a higher production WKT movie in the extended future! (:
