so whats good with Portland? i just made this city my home for the time being, what resorts are closest/best. any core shops in town like decade in salt lake to go check out?

anyone know how the music scene is? i'm assuming since its new england it would have a sick hardcore scene but i havent seen much, i basically live right downtown, so any information on cool shit to do around here, i'm 22 but bars and shit are no bueno so other cool things would be greatly appreciated.

P-town is an awesome small city. Almost like Burlington except its a lil different. The closest resort would probably be Shawnee Peak but I wouldn't suggest going there unless its on a weeknight. Weeknights are fun there weekends are shit, the park sucks for the most part and the lift takes 20 minutes to get up and 2 minutes to ski down. There's a huge metal scene in Portland there are a couple of small venues that host some local metal nearly every night. If you want a good mountain to ski at hit up Sunday River, probably 1 hour and 45 minutes from Portland. One of the best mountains on the EC. Sugarloaf is about 2 hours and 30 minutes and has amazing snow. I live in the suburbs of Portland and have done so for 14 years so I know a great deal, if you have any more questions I'll be glad to answer.

also, there are some excellent ski shops in the Portland area. Arlberg in Scarborough has a great selection (Armada, 4Frnt.) there's also Golf & Ski Warehouse in Scarborough and Wilderness House in Scarborough also have great selections. There's a lot of good shops around SR and Sugarloaf too, and Ski Depot in Jay is good.

sweet dude, i'm excited about the music scene, i definately want to get out and experience all new england has to offer, this kid from vermont let me try some homemade maple syrup from his house and shit was legit, next stop, some sea-food. there seems to be a plethora of emo/scene chicks around as well. sweeeeet. so i'm getting a tattoo tomorrow for my birthday, would you suggest hallowed ground (or whatever its called?) or do you know of a better place?

can't help you out on that one, I don't look into tattoos lol. Just look for a clean place. And yeah, you've gotta skip skiing on Maine Maple Sunday and go to a maple syrup farm. Free maple syrup pancakes, waffles, ice cream, and shit. So fucking awesome.

portlands a pretty cool town for sure but is also pretty mellow. I used to live close, now im 45 minutes south but i still remember a bit of it. Might i suggest Ricetta's pizzeria, best fucking pizza in town, state, NE for that matter. Go there! as for what you suggested, there are usually concerts at the cumberland county civic center, so check their calendar.

i see live shows at the civic center all the time just saw disterbed and killswitch few months ago seen staind their few times breaking benjamin is coming in Feb. ill be hittin that up, sunday river for skiing and saddle back isnt so bad for a tiny little mainer spot...
