Cause it is extremely hard to get a work and travel visa, not to mention the cost of going to college there is a lot considering I have to pay it out right... Yeah it had massive benefits... Ie, before I left I did nothing for a while... But if you are actually living or socialising at all it is very hard to make money. Trust me, I've looked into it. No doubt I'll be saving up again to do another season... I know I got a pretty sweet deal here, safe streets, pretty good chance at a career etc etc... I hate to be THAT guy, but if you're fairly broke then don't spend the money. I know its skiing and I am sure that I will get nothing but hate for this, but resort skiing is not usually a good financial decision. You have food prices (yes, you can bring your own, but many don't); you have gas to pay to get to the hill (unless you live there); you have maintenance fees for your gear (wax, P-tex, ect); you have to pay to get up the hill; and if you are like some folks on NS, new gear to buy. Unless you live in a resort town, this really adds up quite quickly. In addition to this, there are often alternatives to resort skiing that can be easier on the wallet. Alpine Touring being the first thing that comes to mind for me. Hopefully this doesn't garner too much hate, but it is what I would do in your situation.
 
"fairly broke" on NS is more closely related to "mom and dad won't buy me the new iPhone and I can't afford the new Saga gear if I buy it myself" than "I have eaten nothing but rice and potatoes for a month and I live on a couch. What is a season pass?"
 
I also think it's hilarious that people who live near real mountains complain about a $500 season pass. Hell, even $800. I haven't bought a season pass in a few years but I'm pretty sure it's $550 now for my shitty, 180 foot vert landfill.
 
Whistler is the local hill here, it is an hours drive and a non-early bird seasons pass come out to the lovely price of $1,899 for those who are over 19. Touring on the other hand comes out to $0 and you get better powder.

My parents don't do shit for me, other than provide a roof over my head, which I'm lucky to have considering they paid for most of my schooling and I'm not even paying rent.

But i'm always fixing things around the house and maintaining the property which counts for something... regardless, I need to find a job.
 
Meh I was mostly playing devils advocate. But truly thinking about it Alp is more gnarles and if im gonna drive 2 hours somewhere its sure as hell going to be crystal. I get about 4 or 5 days in at stevens every year tho. Its fun and all. If im going to go north east for 2 hours then im going to baker in 3....

I think the worrying part is the "partnering up" mentioned in the pitch. You want someone to hire you and pay you. This sounds like it could be someone who wants you to film, do post, maybe even chip in initial capital, all for a potential benefit down the line.
 
Well, shit. You got me there. When you attempt this, can you at least advertise on Craigslist so some poor, private school kid can make a few pennies filming it? After all, household chores just aren't cutting it for season passes anymore when you don't have a real job.

try living in whistler on $10 an hour...the season passes are $1300 at the cheapest, normally more like $1700, and housing and food is expensive as fuck. Then again, you're an aussie, youve probably already fuckin been here
 
i did work at maccas... when i started i got like around 6.50.. when i left i was getting around the 11 or 12 mark.... i'm now 22, working in a logistics company getting around 14.50 bucks, which is pretty standard... there is noway anyone earns 25 bucks an hour at maccas... they'd have to be a manager, and if they did, they'd get like 4 hours of work per week.
 
Good luck getting an actual job if your future employer finds out you were in pornos. Also sounds mad sketchy to me. But you're a guy so I guess it's not as bad as if you were a girl. Who knows. But do you really wanna fuck gross porn sluts? Do literally anything else... Landscaping maybe? Sell some stuff? Get a job and borrow some money with the knowledge that you'll be able to pay it back shortly?
