Popping switch

Hey news coolers.

Are there different ways you guys go off jumps switch? what should i, and and shouldn't i do, when trying a switch trick?

In the past I've made myself look pretty stupid hitting shit switch. I can land switch and ski switch just fine though.

A big thing to remember is to be patient. I see a lot of people pop too early and get worked when their skis hook on the lip. Look over your shoulder and pop as you go off the lip.

Another thing is to not lean too far forward. My first switch hit ever turned into a switch frontflip to my face because i had too much pressure on the tongues of my boots. Push your calves into the back of your boot when you are coming in switch.

Once you get the whole popping thing down, switch tricks are pretty easy. I find spinning switch easier than spinning forward to be honest.

get off NS and go practice it, seriously, I know this may sound like a fucking crazy new and radical idea but that's the only way you're going to learn.

True shit.

Spinning switch is real easy once you get the hang of it. First of all, it's awresome because instead of going blind right away you get to look at the landing. And second, your body is already wound up just because you are looking over your shoulder. This will make the first 180/360 automatic. Remember, you are wound up already so you don't need to spin hard.

Well, there are two paths. He can start off with no idea what to do and fall 10 times before getting it right.

OR, he can get some tips and fall 3 times before getting it right.

Sure, practice is essential but it's not like all advice is 100% useless.

Don't listen to the kid that said lean back. Jesus Christ. It should be the same as if you we're skiing forward so you can pop like normally

do not! do not whatever you do put pressure on the calves of your boots. it'll make it so that any jump with a fair amount of pop will buck you into a flailing frenzy.

you really have to keep your weight centered. knees bent, don't scissor your legs when you're in the transition, make sure that you do your best to square up your body to allow yourself to get even pop. then at the lip, pop and initiate the spin with your whole body. not just with your shoulders(as so many people do).
