Popping/stepping

So I've been skiing for my whole life, but I taught myself all the basics for park since I never skied with skiers when I learned. And I just realized after seeing some video of myself that I pop really weird and I think it's not a good thing.
I kinda jump off one leg. Like how people often start to get onto urban rails but I think I do it all the time. I thought it was just on urban setup features that I did this but I definitely noticed that I do it off everything. I've seen people huck cliffs kinda like that in big mountain segments if you can't quite picture it.
Anyone else do this or used to at one point? It's ridiculous because now I need to make learning to pop one of my goals this season... Any pointers on doing it perfect, so I can learn real quick and get back to working on other tricks soon?
Here's a pic of it onto a box. One ski obviously makes it over (way too high) and the other... Well on this hit it went right into the front of the box and I did an unintentional one footed hippy killer type thing.

hah sick man you ski grouse!

so lets see. popping:

1. practice! just walking along, small jumps on the tramp, etc. just stop every once and a while, on a sidewalk or something, and start popping two feet at a time on to your imaginary rail. popping on to curbs two feet at a time also helps; i basically learned how to do street style rails this way. alternatively, go off little jumps on the side of the run, making sure you pop with two feet at the same time.

2. approch your lip in tht ready position. hands up, knees bent, eyes forward, a little crouched.

3. make sure you have your weight centered-forward. your shins should be pressing against the tongue of teh boot.

4. pop! both feet at once. this is where the practice comes in. i would guess that you learned your bad habit a while ago, so it might even take the whole season to fix. keep at it and keep hope!

5. as you probably know, land weight forward, eyes on ed of rail, yadda, yadda, yadda.

good luck with this man! hope i helped!
