What is the advantage of having a ski with a lot of pop (is pop the same as the stiffness of the ski?) . I mean what does it make easier? jumping, carving, obviously not buttering, etc.?

the amount of camber and the force needed to compress it. Wich equals some amount of energy the ski gives back to you when you come up.

isn't a ski with a lot of pop the opposite of a soft ski? (or can you have both?) so wouldn't that make it harder to butter? (I've seemed to come to the conclusion that a softer ski makes buttering easier)

you can have a soft ski with pop but it prob isnt as poppy because the stiffer poppier material doesnt go as far down the ski in the nose and tail still can have pop but a tanner and a trouble maker dont compare.

The amount of pop is also relative to the size of the skier. I am relatively light (155 lbs,) so my Troublemakers have a lot of pop for me. Larger people would think that they're too soft, though.
