Hard To Earn has the best soundtrack in a skiing/snowboarding movie ever.

Dubstep and electronis arnt really that sweet especially when they take up most of the movie.

Augh the progression of music in our generation just seems silly. I have no issues with dubstep or anything like that but it just seems goofy. Kinda like the progression of car styles. I guess its the world of the remix and anything electronic.
I liked the soundtrack and did for Eye Trip as well. If you want to get really silly there is an edit in Eye Trip that used a song that was used on a freeskier podcast but the song was good and so was the edit so who cares if it was reused.

not to resurrect a dead horse but... at least they didnt use edward sharpe - home like 3 other movies ive seen.....

hes got a point, theres plenty of kids at my school who arent as into to skiing as us and dont watch edits online but would buy this movie

The Arena's intro (new FODT movie) is dubstep. hard, datsik, transformers-fucking-style dubstep. no movie should ever be one genre, its just nobody notices when they are entirely indie, rock or rap soundtracks... diversification is key. i agree with you. FODT has the best soundtrack I have ever heard. they also don't pay for music rights....

Diversification is definitly the key, and its not that sweet that MFM and FODT dont pay for their music. The new trailer dosent seem to dupstep to me with Gangstarr, but maybe i just dont really know what dubstep is.

Don't know if anyone posted this yet, but here is a site that lists the soundtracks for all major ski movie releases. It lists all the music by segment, includes track and artist information of course, and even has links to download from itunes. If you didn't know about this hook a brother up with some K++

I thought the soundtrack was terrible the first time i heard it but then it grew on me. Its a sick sound track and perfect for each seg.

ya man exactly how it was with me i thought it was crap at first but now i love the soundtrack...and people cant judge the music without acually watching the movie with it.

yea, its dumb when people use major ski movies songs for their edit. and it is so easy to google the soundtrack of a ski movie where websites put up each song in the flick..

I must say that as someone who use to help choose some of the music for PBP, the idea of other segments were brought up. I realize that when I was doing it, there weren't really sountrack databases in one spot. But, the song ideas either came from our friends, music companies sending us stuff, and, an ocassional surf video (I would say dipping into other sports is fair game and it has been done to our industry as well). I remember choosing quite a few songs, only to find out that they were used in Mack Dog videos. I even remember a couple of songs being used in the same year (ante up in Propaganda, Fuel injected in Happy Dayz)

However, I can never remember anyone saying "yeah that was used in a movie before, but let's do it anyways. Fuck em. They'll never notice." The truth of the matter is the amount of videos we would watch from skiing, to snowboarding, to surfing, to any other sport was quite startling. So, while I can't get into the heads of the guys that are doing it now, I have a hard time believing that they are blatantly plagiarizing, but rather had a song in mind, not knowing whether they heard it somewhere or not, but wanting to have as good of a soundtrack without breaking the bank, so they can put more money into the shooting budget and have cool shots.

While that might not excuse everything, just remember, that the more people who watch your movie, the more sponsors, the more athletes, the more events, the more things that have nothing to do with skiing. And they are willing to do those things, not to sell out or to be greedy, but to be able to put more copies of cool ski movies in more peoples hands. And they inhibit one from doing those cross checks with other videos, because the time might not be there. It's important to understand that perspective before stating that a company needs a PPT presentation in originality. I think that's kind of ironic, btw, because I think this thread needs a PPT on originality.
