Political threads, maybe make a Politics Forum?

Okay before you shut the idea down at least read the sparknotes and hear me out.

I realize that since today is the last day to vote it might be too late for this. But what would you guys think about creating Politics Forum? I realize NS isn't meant for politics, but the the politics talks are just clogging up NSG. And I know NSG was made for things not about skiing, but I feel now people use it as a place to get a good laugh.

So you may say well then that forum would never see any action. This might be the case, but at least we would have a place to put them and keep them out of NSG and where else they might be lingering to. And what about the Investors Forum, 27 threads total, that thing is dead.

Also I know that there is a strong influx right now of politics talk due to the election. It's my opinion though that they are still abound enough during mild political times for this to be useful. I see the argument too that this could be done with just about every topic out there, but I feel this is big enough to deserve something of this sort.

This is just an idea what do you guys think? Maybe you have another idea too.

There have been a few political cults over the year, but the people who joined them tended to be level-headed intellectual types, so the cults died after a few months since there weren't any sophomoric gong-show threads that make NSG so entertaining. Real political talk gets old quickly when you essentially have to type research essays for every post.

I also like it because I can voice my opinions and not get karma raped by little 15 year olds who don't share the same opinion as me? My rating was 7.1 and now its fuckin 6.93... Not that it matters but that's all from voicing my opinion in NSG the past week or two.
 
not even the ski trailers forum succeeded, i doubt that would. plus i think its more work for the mods

Yeah it probably wouldn't see any traffic, but at least it would get all the raging threads out of NSG
 
there is no "clogging" of NSG. people post in threads they want to post in and the thread gets bumped to the top. if people want to post in political threads, so be it. i think most political threads get deleted anyways. political discussion, though often pointless, is generally a more mature, relevant, and moderated topic than most of the threads in NSG.
