Poles?

Just seeing if anyone has any poles they swear by or hate and want to run over with their car.

I'm going to buy a new set. Just ordered myself a bunch of new split gear and my old poles were pretty cheap and shitty. Figured I can use an upgrade.

Also if somebody is selling a pair in decent condition I might be interested.

I've been using these for the better part of three years and they do everything poles are supposed to do. Once they wear out I'll probably buy another pair. They collapse to a very manageable size, and are easy to adjust. I don't know what split boarders look for in their gear but I would reccomend these.

I like my Scott poles. Pretty much the gold standard as far as quality for the money. Mine are blue and have USA printed on them so that is cool too. See them at Level9 on sale all the time but I got mine at a used sporting goods store. I've thought about those adjustable poles before but I wonder if I'd ever actually want to mess with adjusting it and good chance I'd break the plastic adjuster thingy.

Can vouch for Black Diamond poles being everything you could really need out of a pole, but I was using a two-piece snap-lock pole. On their website, looks like they have a few different 3-piece models that fold up small enough to fit into a pack, which I'd imagine would be better for split-board touring. Pricey, but worth it for peace of mind and trusting a product.

Yeah I was def looking at some of the bd poles.

Also forgot that skiers use their poles on the way up and down lol.

I've broken every pair of telescopic poles I've ever had.. some sooner than others, but in the end I always end up with one broken. The BD's lasted the longest, and the Lines broke my first fall. I also have a Leki Whippet that's still going strong.

One pair of poles I absolutely swear by are my Panda Poles. They're stronger than any telescopic pole, as light (if not, pretty damn close), sustainably sourced, custom spec'd, and made in the USA. I use mine primarily for touring, so I ordered them a little tall w/ 11" grips. When touring on flat ground my hand sits about dead center of the grip, allowing me to choke up quite a bit, or down as far as needed when it get's steep or sidehilling.

I know this wont help you much as a snowboarder, as I assume you'll want something that'll fold down small enough to fit in/on your pack while riding. With that in mind I'd say go for a set of carbon BD's, if you can find the right price. Nice and light for the way up, out of the way on the descents, and no worries about taking a fall on them if you're only using them on the skin track.

I have grass sticks poles and they are sick. Look great. Made of bamboo so they are SUPER strong

I have the K2 Lock jaw composite. The grips and straps are really nice and easy to mess with on the fly, the locking mechanism for the telescoping pole has held up well, they came with big ass powder baskets I am pretty happy with them overall.

The backcountry access scepters are really nice. The tabs on the grip are useful for adjusting heel risers, and clearing off snow on the top sheets. I'd recommend them for sure

I also have these poles and have liked them so far. I like how small they are when you fully collapse them. Seems like a particularly good feature for snowboarding since they aren't used on the way down.

I have these too. They are stupid light and never failed me once in 2 seasons.

I had I pair of collapsible poles I got with some snowshoes from Costco, I don't remember how much they were but they worked well. Could be a cheap option maybe.

Fuck anything carbon. I've broken shit way too many times and I'm just so done with it.

Also stay away from any of the twist adjust poles. Those suck too.

BD and G3 both make great alu poles.

I use a pair of Line Paintbrush Poles and those work totally great as well.

You also can't go wrong with an extra long pair of non adjustable poles and some old road bike handlebar tape.
