Pole plants off jumps???

I've been watching some ski edits lately and I have seen peoples landing their poles at the lip of the jump when they are about to spin. I can't see why that helps all I can think of is to help them carve more. Thanks guys just wondering

It makes me cork spins less. So i dont drop my shoulder too much.

Thats weird, for me its the opposite. I pole plant behind me to set my cork 7s on the right axis, and because it looks sickk.

All I know is that it looks good with Cork 3's

Lots of the first guys came out of mogul background. Poleplants off mogul kickers are pretty much universally used as a timing thing . At least until they started back flipping.
