Pole frustrations

I don't know if this is common issue, but when skiing park I have the hardest time keeping my poles by my side. One of them always ends up awkwardly crossing my body and it's the least stylish habit imaginable. Does anyone have any tips? I have short poles already, and don't plan on going pole-less. It just sucks to land a trick after hundreds of attempts, just so my poles can fuck me over.

I've also tried to consciously keep them in check, but to no avail.

I feel it, except this is more of an issue when I happen to land on my poles off a cliff, you don't even wanna know how many poles i have bent or broken because of this. Just focus on what your hands are doing in air and they will generally stay up with you.
