Anyone know if these are worth the very reasonable price of $100?

Anyone know anything important about the specs?

Anyone have any kneejerk reactions with nothing to back them up?

Kneejerk reaction: Wow that is ugly! Why would I trust Polaroid to make a good action cam?

Actually looking at specs: Specs aren't that great, get an old go pro for the same price and get the same specs with really good customer service and an established proven product, Just my .02 cents

can you get an old go pro for 100 bucks? plus itd be bigger obviously. and would it really be a superior product in a noticeable way?

Yeah, I've seen go pro's on NS for under $100, I'd probably sell mine for $100 honestly, if someone wanted it, 60fps at 720p, not sure if the cube has this, also, ability to add a screen? Also waterproof case coming standard, also this doesn't really matter. That thing may be smaller but it's ugly as sin, its like it took all the ugly parts about go pro and made them worse. It seems like a go pro for moms, check this article out, really unappealing to me. http://petapixel.com/2014/08/13/polaroids-cube-action-cam-special/

(yeah no 60fps on it)

that article was fine but it seems to dodge the point that it's not trying to compete directly with the gopro. it's 100 bucks compared to 200, 300, and 400. i honestly might pick one up

True, it is aimed at a totally different market, which is what I think that article pointed out, case in point, that little blurb about "no surfing" this is aimed at a less "extreme" market so no slo mo, no stock waterproof case, etc. It seems to be aimed at family memories and less action type stuff, which is fine. Just depends on what you want to use it for, as a skier, I would go GoPro just because the camera is built, designed, and tested for the kind of abuse I will put it through, Different stokes for different folks, Also, I would probably sell my go pro for $100 just so I have an excuse to upgrade, haha.

yeah understandable. i think i just realized the reason this entices me besides the price: it's much smaller. gopros are amazing but i still think theyre too big and it makes me much less likely to take one places and use it

you'd think gopro would have teamed up with a good helmet company and integrated them. but maybe im just too self conscious of the teletubbie look while goproing. while going pro! man that name is lame. the GO PRO...HERO. ugh

also this thing is "weatherproof" and the waterproof case is only like 30 bucks i think

Cool, yeah, you're not going to convince me and I am not going to convince you, haha, To me, size doesn't really matter, the go pro fits in my pocket just fine, and I don't use my go pro on a helmet ever, It is always handheld or on a stick so its form factor is better for me. Have fun though, what matters is that people take videos
