Polarized Sun Glasses for $30

Every time a hater comments, they sell another pair... Keep bumping it back up haters. My buddies will have this thing funded in no time
 
maybe that comment sounded more hateful than I intended. I would love to spend 30$ on a pair of shades, but for real - why isnt there one pair of black framed ones or brown or white? If your buddy made a more mellow colored pair he would sell more.. its simple marketing just expanding the target market.

Yeah, that's because the vast majority of people are uninformed consumers. Just because a company doesn't advertise that it exists does not mean that it's keeping a low profile.

They can effectively set prices, but you do not know what designer sunglasses are if you think that Oakley makes them. If you define designer sunglasses as sunglasses made by Burberry, Bulgari, Ray Ban and DKNY then you could say that they have a monopoly. They also aren't "getting away" with anything, they are simply catering to a customer-base that refuses to be informed.

What the hell are you talking about? Apple outsources all manufacturing to Foxconn and allows for such small profit margins on the manufacturing end that significant corners have to be cut. Since when does an iMac with an Intel processor cost $900 to be manufactured? It hasn't ever. As for Dell making computers for $400? Not a chance. Have you even acquired any capital allocation information before making claims like that? Maybe you shouldn't use Yahoo Answers and Wikipedia as your primary research tools.

If Apple were to have the same margins as Luxottica (~37x cost of manufacture), you'd be buying an iPad for a maximum of $370.
 
I acknowledge that my pricing statements are vague as companies like dell have so many tiers of equipment, permutations of offerings, and naturally keep their cost structure confidential. But it is illustrative of my point if not exact.

As for apple, though, there is extensive documentation on the manufacturing cost of their products. An ipad costs $375 to build, not $10 like your math suggests. You'd be paying $13,875.
 
Make glasses that don't look like cheap pieces of shit and maybe more people would be interested, kiddo. You're getting a wee bit off track here.
 
You're quoting PC Magazine? I'm quoting Foxconn, the company that makes the product. Again, stop using Google to make you feel informed. Most of the "extensive documentation" that you're referring to is from publications that are funded by advertising from companies like Apple.

Now back to the original topic, I don't support your "company" or your product.
 
As someone who's been on this site for about 4 years now, I would advise you as someone running a company not to argue with the kids on here. I assure you it will not end with any sort of resolution. Certain members seem to only be able to satisfy their sexual desires by stirring up frivolous bullshit.
 
Thanks! Though "running a company" is more like "two dudes trying to make enough money to buy next year's squaw pass", so there's not much of a corporate filter in place. Things like sunglasses are polarizing (haha! no pun intended): hopefully the people who like em get a chance to see them, and the people who don't like them at least got a chance to see what else is out there.

But we've gotten a lot of positive responses and we're happy with what we've done!
 
just because you work in an oakley retail store does not make you the king of sunglasses.

The design is old. They were first made for pilots to keep their eyes protected even better. Thats why raybans are called raybans...ban the suns rays
 
This is fantastic. Also, Knockaround offers custom sunglasses for around $30 in similar colorways to the Sunski pieces of shit.
 
I payed $180 for my custom Oakley holbrooks, and honestly I wear my pair of coots light ones (free) more often. Too scared to damage because of the price, and I just wish the coors' were a little better quality. Thinking I might pledge for a pair.
 
This thread is getting ridiculous. How many people in this thread have a start up company that sells sunglasses? As far as I can tell, there is one. How many people in this thread wear sunglasses, consider themselves subject matter experts, and are extremely critical? It appears that description fits nearly everybody else. Liking or disliking the sunglasses is obviously a matter of personal opinion (I think they look pretty neat, but I won't be buying a pair because they're not really my style). But the arrogance and general dickery of many of the responses just makes you look like morons. Its fine if you dont like the sunglasses. Just because theyre not oakleys/raybans/gucci etc. doesnt mean they suck. you have no idea what the quality is like and if you get offended when someone criticizes your favorite designer brand, grow up.

Owning a company that makes sunglasses (albeit a small company) is commendable. In my opinion, it lends you quite a bit of legitimacy in a conversation about the sunglasses industry over, say, an oakley patron or sunglasses salesman or just a random 13 year old ass hat on newschoolers. It seems like people get pretty emotional when theyre told that they are overpaying for designer eye wear. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but its a lot easier to criticize someones work on the internet than it is to actually design, develop, and distribute a product in an industry you're passionate about. Just my two cents.

I think the site, back story, and glasses all look great. best of luck to the guys selling these.
 
Stuns definitely feel like cheapy gas station sunglasses, they just don't have any weight to them, but that's pretty much it. they're sturdy though, and for 30 bucks they're a solid pair of polarized glasses.
 
if by smart you mean I don't purchase expensive glasses that will get stolen or break just because there is an O on it then I guess I'm guilty. do you care to elaborate?
 
sorry for dub post, I'll kill myself in a second, but could someone please tell me what the point of non polarized sunglasses is?
 
so taking a frame that is used by every major sunglass company and countless smaller companies (ec, knockaround, etc) is not commendable. There is no innovation in that at all. The lenses are still probably shit quality, polarization =/= quality. I am sure that they are not meeting ANSI Z87.1 standards for optical clarity and impact resistance.

my original statement stands, you will never hear of these people again.
