Pokemon Challenge by Google

i would have lost my mind if i saw this when i was young

i remember going skiing and wishing that i could be looking for snow (..idk, ice?) pokemon while i ski

i wonder what pokemon live around me now. and if they put snow ones on mtns etc etc
 
sadly, I'm in to it. I'm a big nerd when it comes to google earth, so it's actually fun for me. oh dear. April Fools maybe?

I cant speak for the getting a job at google part, But i shit you not its real. I would post a screen shot but Im too lazy.
 
it is actually on the iOS and android app. it's an april fools joke, but they actually implemented it. Fun to mess around with, just search various iconic locations, like mt. everest, pompeii, tokyo tower, wall street. you'll find em
 
So just search around huge and well known places? not like in the wilderness of Colorado or the deserts of Africa?
 
I'm also enjoying their "translate to emoji" feature on google chrome

Not really. There was one on top of whistler, but that's all I've found around the mountains around here. One on mt Logan as well.

I'm at 103 and starting to run out of spots to look so I might just have to cheat and use the list if I want to finish this. Some really random placement - makes me wonder who the hell placed these.

I can't find any in China, and you'd figure there'd be one at the Forbidden City at least. One on a random volcano in Kamchatka (but not the biggest one), when you'd think it'd be one on Fuji. Random one on the north end of Great Slave Lake... makes me wonder if I can ever actually find the last 47 on my own. I'm sure there's at least one in the Bay area (or CERN/Sydney/Tokyo) I missed as well.

And yes, this IS what I am doing at 11:42am on a Tuesday.
 
there are a FUCKTON in tokyo, theres apparently some along the great wall, shaolin temple, CERN, NHL team cities in canada (minus vancouver) quebec city, panama canal, santiago, buckingham palace, new york, think major internationally known locations (or things that SHOULD be internationally known minus what north americans seem to not know for one reason or another.)

my friend beat it last night, all 151, and yes, once you get 150 they toss in mew for you to find, but i wont spoil that location for you, but if you know pokemon, its pretty straightforward where youd find it
 
got all 150... not a fucking clue where to find mew. resorted to the various resources made available by the kind users of reddit. not a SINGLE location anyone has listed has given me mew.

My super asian room mate has been playing this all day, literally all fucking day. From this morning when I woke up till now. He's gonna catch em all.
 
this thread reminded me that this was on google maps and I just checked my phone. No more pokemon option now I'm disappointed.
 
you may not be able to start it, but you can definitely keep playing if you already have. just finished my pokedex, too bad im 11 hours too late...

cant anymore, was going on during the 31st, 1st, and ended today. if youve already started you can keep searching, but if you press the searchbar and theres no start button with a pokeball beside it, you cant start playing now
