Poem I wrote

I tried to study over in the math building on CU campus last semester. I ended up getting super stoned before studying. As soon as I entered the building, I had that paranoid feeling that everyone's eyes were on me. I sat down and felt delirious as I opened my notebook.

I had been thinking about the lack of compassion we show for one another. I have found in my own life that the way a person looks at you tells the whole story. The eyes are gateways into the soul. As I sat there, stoned and paranoid, I mulled over this idea and spent my time writing this as opposed to studying. Hope you like it

I look into others eyes

In search of meaning and understanding

Do you understand?

A meaning, a feeling not expressed through language

But an all knowing understanding unspoken and silent

Do not deflect your eyes when you catch my gaze.

Do you understand?

Look me in the eye as your fellow man

Two beings passing through time as nothing more than focused awareness

The struggle, an ongoing search in the eyes of others

Do you understand?

Yet to find a shared feeling and common understanding

Open your heart and you will understand

The unspoken silence that ties you and I together
