Podcast Idea

I have this idea for a podcast where I bring a mic to the mountain with me and talk to people on the lifts. Obviously I wouldn't record anyone without their permission. I think it would be cool to hear lots of people's stories about how they got into skiing, or some of their happiest ski memories. The people I meet on lifts are often so interesting and quirky. I think there's potential for some cool material if I ask the right people the right questions. Lots of old people have pretty weird, wild stories. I think I'd call it Chairlift Chats, or something like that.

This does have some good potential, but it will only go as far as you take it. Most chairlift chats are super basic. Where are you from, comments on the snow conditions, or snow forecast. Getting people to share interesting stories would come from your ability to open up the conversation. Taking your gloves off and pulling outa mic on each chair ride would not be chill. You would need to work around having a mic attached somewhere convenient and having an easy stop/start button.

Or do some crazy shit like push your buddy off the lift and film their reaction... you know, just for shock value

I hope you know I’m joking

If you aren't getting views I can help make it interesting. I'm good at making a horrifically boring or bland situation seem interesting. Not so much on the intrawebs but in that real life I gotchu.

Sensationalize things, add some drama, bring it all to life.

i just dont think that you will find many ppl with anything interesting to say or worth listening to. like not everyone deserves to have a platform where they can be heard on

Really cool initiative, but use a good mic to keep the wind out, that's essential

do you really think that he would find ppl with something interesting enough to say that would make a person want to listen to the podcast? like every story isnt worth telling or hearing

Not if you're going to interview people you often see in the park.

You are right. A good portion of the stories wouldn't be worth reporting on. I am sure that you would get a few stories worth sharing. YOu might land on a lift with some gapers that make up a story, but more often than not you get people that have little experience in skiing so you get themto pull a story from somewhere else. Then there are those people that are 40+ years old that have been skiing their whole life. They would have something interesting to share.

Sure, not every story is all that interesting. But in the span of a week I'm bound to run across at least a few people with something interesting to say if I talk to everyone I ride the lift with.

I was actually talking about doing exactly this with a few buddies of mine a couple of days ago. I say do it, it would be like humans of New York but the skiing version.
