POC VPD 2.0 Jacket or Vest?

I will be stepping up my game in the park this year and would like to invest in some body armor. The only problem is I am torn at which of the two pieces from POC to get: the vest or jacket? What do you guys think? Would all those pads on the jacket be necessary?
