Poc receptor bug

I'm wondering I I should get the poc bug, it's the best helmet but is it worth the extra money? I like it but I don't get why it costs so much

it costs a lot because it protects your head well. i'm pretty sure the receptor is multiple impact rated. this means with most helmets, you fall hard once, you either buy a new one or ski with a compromised helmet. the poc is built to take multiple beatings. the impact foam (stuff that protects your head) is twice as thick on my poc as my old red trace right above the forehead.

think of it this way: my friend ate it off of a wooden pole jam and landed on his forehead directly on hard snow. he got up, smiled and was totally fine. I can't be sure that the poc receptor he was wearing was to be credited completely, but with a cheaper helmet, he might have hurt himself.

you're paying for your brain's protection, to put it simply.

the POC receptor bug might be a better helmet, but there is no way to say for sure. Helmets all have to go through the same standard testing with no further testing after, so really we can say for sure the POC receptor but is as safe as any other helmet out there but saying it's safer is just opinion

i want one real badly but have never been able to get one because i have to big of a head and dont fit into the large and my local shop only has larges and dont wanna take a chance with a 130 xl online that prob wont fit

I work at a ski shop and from what i gathered from the POC information session is that it is multi impact. It costs more because the way they make the foam (which is softer and goes back to original shape thus multi impact) is more expensive. I do not think he told me that they are more protective though, but the session was in november so i may have forgotten.

What's more protective though is the Receptor Bug Backcountry. It has a thing called MIPS which helps soften the blow of a big hit.

The xl fits just like a normal l from salomon. And op if you held one you can tell they are diesel. I got one and it made my salomOn patrol feel like a cheap toy. Totally worth the extra couple bucks they are the best and if you can crash multiple times unlike one and done with others it's a sound investment.
