elephants have been my favorite animal my entire life, and stuff like this just makes me sad. (dumbo was my favorite movie of course)

I wish it was possible to just like...set aside a giant protected area in the US or Canada and ship as many elephants over as possible and be like ok...this is where elephants live now. You fucked up your chance, rest of the world. Now they're ours.

But there's a reason they aren't there naturally so I guess it wouldn't work.

Although I did read awhile back that they've noticed newer generations of elephants have started having smaller/no tusks as a result.

But in our own solar system ? I mean, it may be slightly arrogant to assume we'd know if there was civilizations on a planet in our solar system, but I'm going to assume so anyway. Outside of our solar system I have no doubt that there is some sort of advanced civilization. The universe is just too vast for us to be alone.
