I need to go somewhere in December, mainly to ski but also to work. Ill be living in a van, I am a charter fishing deckhand so thats my work if PNW is the place. Is there good work in SLC? Which is more van friendly? Personal experience?

I think slc can be pretty can friendly, I see some ski bums living out of their cars but not 100% on how police handle it in public lots and shit. I wouldnt be surprised if you were able to work at Alta or something besides PC that would be chill with you living in the lot or something. A shit load of general options for working in the city, just not sure on living in a van there.

In Seattle you can just shit on the sidewalk and throw your needles anywhere you feel like, probably make more money not wasting your whole day at work. #vanlife

Honestly if you’re going to be living in your van the PNW would be the place to be the temps stay for the most part pretty moderate (if you don’t mind rainy muggy weather) and there’s a handful of places where you can both ski and work!

I’d look to places like Portland, Eugene, Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Medford, Vancouver WA.

WA has better skiing than Oregon by far and you’re more likely to get paid better there.. but Oregon is pretty kick back, the type of place you can settle down both states have great people and they are good places for homeless people.. as in you won’t get persecuted too severely by the law should you choose to be homeless (although I still wouldn’t recommend it)

Lots of fishing in the salt lake, work will be easy to find for you

I lol’d so hard reading this.

I’d rather live in SLC than the PNW even though it’s just salt lake shitty, but if you’re doing van life then it’s PNW hands down. I doubt it’s easy finding places to live the van life around SLC—they’d take just as kindly to you as every other territory other than Utah did to Joseph Smith. Bums rule the PNW

No state income tax in Washington so the pay is a little better and when you do need to buy something go into Oregon, no sales tax.

Just wear your magic underwear living in SLC and you will be just fine, lol. And yes, bums do rule the PNW. I drove down from Seattle yesterday and there were bums on every corner begging along with garbage strewn everywhere along the roadside. Sad to see such a beautiful area looking the way it does.
