Please help with DIN! Pre releasing

I am going to copper mountain this weekend for a quick trip but I keep pre releasing and I need to adjust my din. When I am going fast and stop quickly my uphill ski will release when I don’t want it to. The guy who mounted them said if I want to change to a type 3 skier I should have a shop do it but i am nowhere near a shop and can’t get to one soon.

•Can I adjust it myself since I don’t understand foreword pressure or any of that? It seems so simple to adjust but I don’t want to make my bindings unsafe

Info

tyrolia attack 13 bindings

current din 6

Din I want to adjust it to 7

Boot Sole Length 325

6’1

165 pounds

You can easily adjust yourself. There are screws on the toe and heal of your binding you screw to adjust the DIN setting. I think on the attacks the screws are on the very front bottom of the toe piece and the very back bottom of the heal piece. Play with the din on hill once you’ve figured this all out and you’ll find the right DIN for you.

It will be different on each binding you’ll need to find out where the screws are on your binding, internet can help. If you use google you can find DIN charts to adjust to your weight and skier type as well. Play with the din on hill once you’ve figured this all out and you’ll find the right DIN for you.

Thanks I’ll do that it is as simple as I thought

My 2 cents, only bump your DIN 1 (or even .5) at the time, until you find the sweet spot.

Bumping your DIN too much without knowing what you're doing is the best way to end your season!

Hi Kevin it’s quite likely that your pre release issues aren’t to do with the DIN but rather the height of the afd plate. Click your boot into the binding and pull back and up on the cuff of the boot as much you can. If the toe lug has free space up/down in the toe piece your afd needs adjustment.

Good on you for asking. I don’t belive forward pressure will change with Dins

The forward pressure is changed only in the heel, by moving it forward or backwards. There’s a sweet spot that most techs know and won’t need to be changed.

the only reason it would be is if a new boot is in the binding

as for din all it is, is a spring that changes I guess tension to accommodate a more giving release.

so be free to screw that thing up. I’d suggest going .5 vs 1 but hey it’s your knees

Thanks I think you might be right I pull it up and there is clearly space (I was able to slide 3 index cards in between for reference). What should I do now can I adjust myself? If I have to I can take it to a shop but it is the same one I got it mounted at and is not very close to my house.

Is there a reason you can’t do this at copper? Sounds like your shop didn’t set your toe height properly, I would just get it set at the resort, or another shop near copper

Seriously there are so many shops in summit county on the way to copper and you could literally do this at the mountain and have it done quickly and correctly..

This is good news Kevin! Click your boot back in and pull it up and back like before so the gap shows. At the front of the toe piece is a screw for adjusting the afd, turning one way makes it higher and the other way will make it lower. Adjust the afd until it rests against your boot with just enough space for you to fit a single index card in.

Thanks for your help I’m going to put the dins back to what they were and adjust the toe piece to hopefully fix the problem. I will take it to a shop if I continue to have problems.
