Please help, quick question

yeah so i have all the materials to make my box, but we are going to put the PVC on top of a 2x8, but the PVC sticks out like an inch/ inch and a half longer (lengthwise) when i put it on top of the wood

but does it matter if it is like 1 to 1.5 inches longer than the wood at each end? will it affect it at all? i can easily cut it with a electronic saw but idk

i had the same problem, and decided to leave it there. BAD idea. It started to bend and crack and the end. It all depends on how much its sticking out, but id cut it off if i where you.
