I get it so hard and so bad. There is like a dent in my shin. and my left shin got cut yesterday from it. I really need some help. I am probably gonna order booster straps but temporarily what can I do?

ICE AND PILLS, i had some super gnarly shinbang a while ago and iced my shins alot and it helped, i also took some pills before i went skiing.

They are just a tiny bit big. With two pairs of socks they fit well. I'm pretty sure that is the problem but I really need help. The boots are just bbbaaarrreeeellllltttt too big. Maybe like .25 too big.

Go see a boot fitter, he'll help you out. Either your boots are too big, too wide, too old or they just suck. I had bad shin bang and ankle problems a few years back but that cause I wore 28 size boots. Im now sporting size 26 boots and no more problems except for the freezing toe but thats nothing in comparison to shin bang.

What boots are you using?

haha wanna buy some of my hydrocodone left over from my wisdom teeth? I accept paypal.
kidding.. sort of

I got my boots worked on and got id liners this year and i'm still getting a bit shinbang on one foot. Ice it, i'm using a friends TP thing,
http://www.tptherapy.com/

it's mad expensive, but all you really need is the ball, which i'd say is basically a lax ball wrapped in yarn, and you wanna just roll that over your shin as hard as you can, as well as the 5 and 7 oclock parts of your foot behind your shin it helped me a lot. also iced before i rolled it sometime so i could push harder without flippin out.

I wear a 29.5. In reality I'm probably a 29 or 28.5 but I don't wanna buy new boots. I bought them this season and there just some like normal atomics. They might be too wide too.

i have another idea, wrap your shins in ace bandages. its a pain, but if you are looking for some serious temporary relief this will doo

btw im not recommending you buy the thing cause it's not worth it at all, but all you really wanna do is try to find something thatll simulate that ball, the roller thing is alright but the ball does the trick. maybe try a lax or street hockey ball and wrap it in a couple layers of cloth and use the smoothest side

so what you can do too is buy some foam sheets if you have a bootfitter you could buy them from thats best but really any foam sheets will do. What you need to do is take up some space between the sheel of your boot and your calf. So tape that sheet to the inside of the cuff of your boot (the side with the buckle catch not the buckle itself) the more room you need to take up the thicker the sheet. That can sometimes fix it plus it might cost you 8 bucks at the most

Wow. All these ideas are really legit. Thanks a lot. I gave karma to everyone in this thread. Thanks a lot. You may have just saved my season.

Then your boots are 1 size too big. Put on more pairs of thick socks and wedge some sort of foam padding in between your shin and liner or liner and boots, whichever works best. Make sure to tighten the power strap on good too. Peace out!

Hmmmm I think I have horribly large boots from reading all these posts. My feet move and I sometimes have to ball my toes up to keep it steady. The latches are cranked all the way and to the last notch. 28.5 boots. Fucking prick at Sniagrab sold me big boots. Its strait up painful....
I wear a 9.5-10 in shoes and my boot is a 28.5 is that fix-able with 4 pairs of socks or so?

k so heres a bunch of tips
when you first put on your boots before you go to the hill dont tighten them all the way and just walk around in themthen when ou get to the hill tighten them up alot
also you can stratch your shinswith like a slanted board and you stand on it and lean forwardkinda hard to explain

if you have skinny ankles and calves its pretty much unavoidable. I have boots that fit really well, are really flexy, and i still get the 'bang after only a couple days in my boots, especially jumping. i have booster straps too, but if you have thin calves they are going to move around in the cuff and hurt.

pro bootfitter- to get the right boots, if full tilts are an option, i would recommend getting them

booster straps- for added help

TRAUMEEL- for the pain! pretty much the best stuff ever for bruising and pain (get it at a natural foods store)

rolling pin works mad well too... but a warning, what your doing is actually killing the nerves on your shin, so in reality your not getting rid of the bang, just making it so you can't feel it...

Go to a good shop with a bootfitter who actually knows his shit. Booster straps will help but they aren't a cure-all. You might wanna ask about these weird foam pads they put in the side of the boot to fill in extra space around your calves/shins, that helped me a lot. Remember though, no matter how good a fit you have you will get shinbang if you land backseat a lot.

I spent three hours selecting the perfect boot for my foot with a guy who's done fitting for like six or seven pros (Matt Manser at Ski Rack for those in VT). I got custom A-Line footbeds, a booster strap, and those foam pads. I've had it heat molded twice. I spent over $700 of my hard-earned cash making them perfect, and they fit my foot better than a tight vagina. BUT, if I land back seat real hard, I still get shinbang. Keep that in mind..
