NSG, I know a lot of us on hear like gettin wild, hell, I know I sure do. Ragin is the fucking best, but please hear me out, it may save your life.

A couple nights ago, one of my absolute best friends, who attends Illinois State was attending a party. He was drinking with friends and having a good time, just enjoying the night.

Before I get any further let me tell you about my friend, Nick. This kid is absolutely, the most lovable and funny kid you'll meet. Seriously, I dont know a single person who has ever disliked him, he is pure happiness and spreads it wherever he goes. Hes a real stand up guy. I'm sure we all know someone like that.

Well anyway, back to the story. Nicks at this party havin a blast im sure. Well as the night progresses, the party is busted. Nicks never been in trouble with the law I dont think, so I doubt he wanted to taint his record. So as the police are busting this apartment party, Nick, along with a couple of friends hide in one of the rooms of the apartment. They sit there for around half and hour trying to hide (Youd think he woulda sobered up with cops in the room over). Eventually someone comes in the room and tells everyone they need to come out, the cops know their hiding, and not leaving until they come out. So they all file out of the room to receive their $35 ticket.

But the group of friends realize nicks not even with them, they dont know where he went. Ends up, as everyone went to go their tickets, Nick decided to stay back. Rather then get a ticket, He decided he would hang off the 4th story balcony so the cops wouldn't see him. Well, obviously its nearly impossible to hold yourself up forever.

Nick fell 4 stories. Shattered his legs, knees, femur, wrists, his cheek and both arms. He fractured his skull and had pressure building in his brain. He was airlifted to a hospital and was in intensive care for 4 days, in a kind of coma. Thankfully, his broken cheek bone wasnt to bad, and his brain is fine (According to the tests. no one knows the full extent of the damage yet since he still has a breathing tube down his mouth.) He has had surgery's nearly everyday since the accident happened.

He hit the ground so hard, his broken femur penetrated the skin, and was dug into the ground.

The devastation that this has caused to his family and friends is unbelievable. All of his friends were in tears upon hearing what happened. "Why Nick?? Nick, of all people."

So please, I know you think this kind of thing will never happen to you, but it does. It can happen to anyone. Dont listen to the alch, use your brain. Dont cause this kinda pain to not only yourself but your family and friends.

(class is over, ill comment on this post in like 5 minutes)

TLDR- Dont be stupid when your drunk. Please.

Damn that's just brutal. The dude would have been a freaking rockstar if he'd actually pulled that one off though.

Im back now, thanks to everyone who responded already.

Nick has been undergoing surgery almost around the clock. His body is now filled with plates, screws and rods. He is receiving 4units of blood a day. Now that many of his surgeries are over, the biggest fear they have now is infections. His recovery will easily take around a year, and he still will probably never be the same.

Its stupid things like this that can impact your life in a devastating away, just because you dont drink and drive doesnt mean you still cant get hurt.

Nick on the right. He'll pull through, we know he will.

broke my skull in a couple places 2 weeks ago. feeling much better and I hope your friend has as good of a recovery as I did. Vibes to him and his family.

anyway, remember to wear a helmet....

thats a real bummer, and im sorry to hear it. but it would have been pretty badass if he'd successfully held on for the whole time

I hid in a bathroom for 2 hours while a party was being busted and no one bothered to check the bathroom a second time so I didnt get caught. I thought I was badass.

Similar thing happened to my cousin a few years back. He was drunk and screwing around hanging off the edge of a parking garage. Fell 4 stories and nearly died, was in a coma for awhile. He eventually recovered but he's still not the same as before the accident. I hope the best and a quick recovery for your friend Nick.

not as bad as falling off buildings but my friend almost died of alcohol poisoning a few weeks ago. vibes to all. alcohol needs to be taken seriously.

Major vibes+++ Damn lucky to be alive for that kind of fall and injuries, hope for a speedy recovery for Nick!

I assume the reason he was hiding is because he is underage? Kids like this is the reason the drinking age is 21. Ruin it for everybody

Thats kidna funny you mention that, when it first happened no one knew the full story and everyone was saying he was in a car accident and flew out the windshield. We were all devastated. Then we heard what really happened and it became "God damnit nick, whyd you do this."

a friend of my brother passed out and fell off a 3 story balcony. lucky he is ok kinda now. fucked himself up pretty good. on the other hand, these are rare freak accidents. drinking is fun, and you should probably just keep on partying. just don't get in a car.

Holy shit i cant fathom what it would feel like to have a femur penetrate the skin.

This is definitely going to change his entire lifestyle. He'll appreciate the world as if he had never seen it before, every path that had been set has now changed due to his accident. Its a miracle that someone survived a 4 story fall. I hope he cherishes his new life. Vibes to Nick and everyone around him.

that is right fucked.

serious vibes to you and your friend. seems like one of those freak accidents you wouldn't see coming in a million years.

this is why I don't drink often anymore... I can picture myself doing the exact same thing with the right amount of liquor in me.

This is what terrifies me, When I heard about the full story all I could think about was how similarly I may have acted

Hope your friend makes a full recovery. I went to ISU, I used to live at 404 School St.. Looking back shit got so crazy there. Hope everyone reads this and thinks twice... peace
