Plate Cracked In the Microwave

I got home from school today and I was microwaving a pot pie. I put it in for 12 minutes, and 6 minutes into it I hear a sound like plates clacking together. I opened up the microwave to find that the plate had split in half perfectly down the middle in a pretty much perfectly straight line, and it was insanely hot to the touch. I have never even heard of this happening before.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm kind of scared to microwave on anything but paper now cause I have no idea what caused it.

it has something to do with water being in the plate and getting all sorts of excited i think.

im guessing either the plate was in the fridge OR the pot pie was frozen causing a hot/cold reaction.

also,

why the fuck was it in for 12 minutes? microwaving usually entails like 5-6 minutes max.

that happens with some of my plates. we have half glass and half ceramic and the glass ones break in the microwave.

Yeah the pot pie was frozen.
I'm not sure if the plate was microwave safe, but I have been using these plates all my life and this is the first time this has happened. I guess I just won't put frozen stuff on them anymore when I'm microwaving
