Plasti dip wheels. CAR SHIT.

I have before. Works pretty good and it can look good. One big plus to it is that it's pretty easy to remove incase you don't like it.

From what I heard, if you want to change the color of something really easily or aren't sure if you want it done permanently, this is the stuff. Really if you can spare the $5 or what ever it is for a can I see no reason not to, peel it off if you screw up or it looks bad. That said after a few months it might look like faded plastic, but if you just want to see what your wheels look like black with out committing to paint, go for it.

That's my thought.

Did it hold up decently? I live in WA, and I drive mountain roads daily in the winter.

It works well. The key to this is all in the prep. Make sure you clean whatever you're gonna dip really really good. If not it won't adhere properly and will end up looking like garbage within a couple of months or less.

Hmmmm. I was reading something on subaruoutback.org about a guy who did his 2 years ago. Maybe that's best case scenario.

My friend does his every 2 months or so. You are supposed to take the wheels off before applying it.... which is a bitch, unless you have the time to take them off, let them set, and put them back on. They seem to do a pretty descent job at keeping everything clean, but the salt eats them up. Here is a photo of his SI.

I helped do a whole wrap on a 350Z.

It actually comes out sick, but plan on using a shitload of it, and don't try to do an area that's wider than say 2ft or so. It needs to lay down thick and wet in order to auto-level and if you try to spray it on light, it will look like fuck.

I'd do your wheels first. If you like how it looks and are comfortable with your ability to spray it evenly, then go for it. If you fuckit up, just put a lot on where you want to remove and it will just peel right off as long as your paint is in decent shape. If it's too think though, it'll be a pain to remove.

Also, it is a tint color, meaning you can black out your lights and they'll still light up when you hit the brakes, etc. Probably not legal inyour state, but who gives a shit?

Plasti-dip is pretty sweet. I did it to the front of my suby, from the grill down to the bumper, and it turned out great. The best part is that over spray washes off and if youre not diggin the look it peels right off.

Never done wheels, but I've done a bunch of random stuff that came out great. like others said, it's pretty easy to remove if you aren't satisfied.

That's a nice looking Honda. I don't even like Hondas.

I think the hardest part is gonna be taking the time to do it all right. I don't have a garage either. That'll be fun.

Has anyone tried it on car where the clear coat is coming off on the original paint and the exposed paint is fading in some places? My pathy needs a paint job bad and this sounds like a perfect cheaper alternative. im just worried about it not pealing off or just straight not working at all.

if you have orange peel (where the clear has peeled off and it's dull basecoat underneath is showing) it will most likely not pull off cleanly unless it's on there super thick.

I'd still do it, just make sure you put a shitload on or it'll take FOREVER to scrub off.

just plasti dipped my winter wheels, so much fun and cost me a total of $28 to do all 4 in the 2 diff colors!

I would have to look at the car more closely but im pretty sure thats whats happening. im at college so i dont have the car here:( it would have to wait until summer. I would also have to figure out a way to mix it to get the desirable color. the car is a darker blue and theres no way in hell id go with the standard plastidip blue.. and i cant really do another color.. red exterior + blue interior = no bueno

its fun, cheap, easy and looks awesome.

Ive done it to my rims twice because they get so dirty in winter and are just grey by april.

just peel it off if you dont like it. defs worth it.

its funny, people either hate the blue or love it, i personally wish it has been a lighter blue but thats the beauty of plasti dip, if i dont like it after a while i peel it off and try something different!

covers the rust but you will have valleys and shit if that makes any sense a leaf fell on my emblem and when i did a coat over th spot where it used to be there was a depression that got worse with each additional coat

Im currently plasti-dipping my Full tilts. Much better way than dying and painting. It lasts longer, is about 20% of the price and it takes about half the time.

Just got my first car (98 chevy blazer) from my sister and the grey wheels/rims look like shit IMO and I want to eventually murder out the whole car but would the plasti dipping work on the plastic hub cap or how would I go about blacking them out?

i cant figure out how to post that image full sized i am obviously retarded. i can email you some better pics if interested. if your runner is silver, black dip is gonna look good. nice contrast

I do declare that I might do that, then. I have a 2000 Outback, and I cannot seem to find tail light covers for it. And there's that dumb strip of i-look-like-part-of-the-tail-light red plastic in the middle that I want to gtfo.

just did mine up

when i did it, i was strapped for time and kinda rushed and didn't allow enough dry time before drivin out in the rain. It thinned the plasti dip out and now I need to spend more time doing some more coats. ALLOW AT LEAST 12 HOURS TO CURE!! 24 hours to be safe, thats what I learned.

AYYYYYYY I WAS RIDIN IN THIS LIKE 3 DAYZ AGO!

It looks very good in person. The smoke looks professionally done, and the wheels as well. It has done well in the Seattle rain as well.
